Thanks James21 - not what we were told though when we took this out of course. No apparently we were going to be able to use the branches in exactly the same way as the Natwest account. Of course we were also told about the marvellous on line facility ??? Have you ever had one of these -really minimal - I mean really minimal. Then there was the arrangement that interest rate increases and decreases would be instigated the next day. This became interest rate increases would be instigated the next day and decreases would take a good month to change. Same day transfers to a Natwest Bank account charged for etc etc. Hence reason for move.

    Hi,

I already have a current account and a liquid gold account at halifax (which i want to close today) basically i want a savings account that i can trickle small amounts of money into weekly but still be able to get money out of quickly when i need it. Its just basically a holiday money bank account/small savings account.

Does anyone have any ideas which account i go for? Its like a minefield out there and the old brain gets a bit muddled with all the information lol!!

    Hi everyone,
    Hopefully someone can help me.

I've been a reader of these discussions for some time and came across a discussion about opening a Citibank Current Acct, there were a lot of posts with regards to them being quite leniant about people having poor credit history and people being successful with opening an acct even though they have a bad credit history.

My problem is, they have just refused me an acct. I Would like a Current Acct to help me start repairing my credit score as well as paying back my debt but keep hitting brick walls. Would anyone know of a way of overcoming this or know of a provider who can give me a current acct with a bad history.

Any help is really really appreciated.

    Cheers, john.

There's all their savings accounts, plus details about funding and withdrawals:

I have some money that I want to put aside for at list 5 years, so, what do you suggest to do with it to aquire the highest interest without paying tax?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Hope you clever people can offer some advice.
My bank HBOS downgraded my account from regular current account to CARDCASH account with restrictions when my card expired. Now they refuse to renew my overdraft (£2000!!!) or offer anything over £100 overdraft limit.
I have borrowed money to pay off the overdraft and now I am going to apply for a new bank account- but does anyone know whether this downgrading will affect my credit history (okay but not great) ?

I am newly self employed and earnings have been erratic but I am certainly banking (if not always actually earning) over £1000 per month.
A basic account is not really workable in my situation so I would prefer a full account - ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?

Also - sorry if I'm being a bit thick! - I need to bank cheques on a regular basis. Do the internet based companies offer this service through high street banks? If so does this cost?

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread
    Ever hopeful

My main black mark on credit rating is "not applying for new credit" ! But now I am scared to apply for anything as refusal will count against me
