Well I've been through the online application process, including the switching part.
I gave the details of an existing account, but I wasn't asked how many DD mandates it has.
I said my income was paid into the bank, but I wasn't asked who by.
So basically I've done the normal unincentivised account switch, and at no point has it been made clear to me that there are extra hoops I have to jump through to get the incentive.
Now I'm waiting to see what happens.
Two questions.
What if I'm one of those dinosaurs who doesn't trust DDs, or phone banking or internet banking or debit cards, and I still pay all my bills by cheque?
And supposing, without prejudice, that I switch a salary, where does it say that this should be a direct credit from a third party, rather than being transferred by me from another bank account every month?"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
