he's only applying for management roles in shops that he aiming to high maybe because all his experince as a sales assitant. This got a bad reaction because he doesn't want to do this at age 32! and he should be earning a good wage!.
I think his attitude is very selfish. He sees getting a job purely as something that will add benefit to HIS life. Ok to get a job if he can get satisfaction from it, but not ok if it is to contribute towards your household allowing YOUR plans to move foward.
He has now been trying to get the job he aspires to for 6 months without success, it is time he swallows his pride, start thinking about his responsibilities rather than his desires, and get any job. Nothing stops him continuing to look for a management job during that time.
In your shoes, i would not be a happy partner at all.0
