If you're that worried, just take it to a "mileage correction specialist",cost you around £50 & takes 5 minutes to put it on any mileage you tell him to.0
-
Instead of beating yourself up, just contact them and tell them you need to revise your annual mileage estimate.
Presumably you would rather pay up whatever extra this will mean to your premium than continue with the stress!0 -
I contacted them this morning to revise it. I'm just worried that it will only be effective from today and they may still deny the third party claim from last week.0
-
How would they know? Do they look at the last MOT when they process a claim? Also the same applies for occupation, how do they confirm you are a plumber or plasterer. These also supposedly affect premiums.0
-
I imagine they will. I informed them immediately when I moved to a higher risk address, so I never set out to misguide them.0

This should not really be a problem for you - we request the mileage at inception and renewal to calculate appropriate premiums - none the less if we have to deal with a claim where the policyholder is way over his/her estimated mileage and they can show an acceptable reason why this was the case eg, close family friend/ family member who lives far away has been ill and you visited several times hence a mileage in excess of what you anticipated this would be accepted.0
-
What if it was just oversight and there is no specific reason?0
-
That would be more problamatic for you - as we have to be seen to be fair to our policyholders who do correctly declare their annual mileage and pay the appropriate premium0
