    Bless you Squeaky!!!
My dh has been asking me for ages to do spreadsheets or whatever to keep a tighter rein on our budget. I was too daunted to even try......now I can give it a go!
OP......thanks for asking the question. Perfect!

Santa got me an "I Heart Spreadsheets" mug this year :D and very appropriate it is too. I'm a complete Excel geek. I'm especially obsessed with vlookups and conditional formatting! DH is also an Excel geek so we are well matched.

I keep meaning to do a proper budget spreadsheet with all the incomings/outgoings so we can keep track of it all properly. I do have a big costings spreadsheet though where I can work out exactly how much a recipe costs me to make including any packaging and how much I would need to sell it for to cover costs/make a profit etc, for if I do a craft fair or someone wants a cake made etc. I have one sheet where I list all the ingredients I use, with prices, pack sizes etc. Then another sheet with all the packaging (muffin cases, labels etc). And a template that I can copy for every new recipe, where all I have to do is select the ingredients from a drop down menu and type in the quantity or weight and it pulls all the other details across and does all the sums. I love my costing spreadsheet :) Bit sad really.

I also have much more simple ones for things like Christmas present lists (budget for each person, what I've bought them, how much I have left to spend on them etc etc).

Ooohhhhh...... Your recipe costing spreadsheet sounds fabulous. I have a basic one I used to use to point up recipes for Weight Watchers (until they changed all the point values that is). Yours sounds a hundred times more advanced. Would you care to share it?

Sure - if you drop me a PM with your email address I'll send it to you. The version I have on this laptop doesn't have all my recipes but the workings are all there so you can use it/tinker with it to your heart's content :)
  • The meal planning one on Squeaky's link is fabulous! I spent a good couple of hours adapting it to my needs with my recipies and things. I loooove it! Thankyou again :D

I think I might just get into this! Anyone tell me of a good tutorial site?
  • Byatt on the link Squeaky posted there are templates to download so you just have to alter it to your own needs with recipies and such! No learning required :D

Otherwise I'm sure there would be tutorials online free.
