I'm not sure either, but I think it may have been how much he has spent on cars/modding in the last few years....

I related to the guy in the programme. He talked about bullying at school which is what I had (and have also had from work). His bedroom resembled mine only mine has computer mags and CDs rather than car mags. The psychological aspect of the programme was really the only one I felt was any good from the series. Ben did seem to lose the plot a couple of weeks ago with the swimming pool but was back on track this week.

I too would like to see more budgeting hints. I don't think it was realistic to say to him give up smoking completely in one go as i know it's hard to do that. I think it would have been better if she had just cut back on that. In terms of the £125 socialising, that's really only a night out per week which is realistic for a lot of people.

Eating out and socialising REDUCED to £125 per month.

That's a kebab every day of the month, isn't it............. Hardly cutting back!

The programme tries to set a realistic target, whilst the person still has a chance to get the debts under control.

If they set a budget of zero then the person may not bother all at with it.

It's a bit like a dieter being told, no chocolate, no biscuits and no crisps.
Its more likely to succeed if you are told you can have a couple of "treats" a week :)
  • I think this programme is the most rubbish waste of time programme on tv. It has so much potential to be really useful to a lot of people but I find most of it laughable.
They always pick someone who owns high value things that they can sell and then hey presto they knocked a great wedge off of their debt. I'd like to see them "fix" someone who has maxed out their credit cards on things like holidays and going out, that they don't physically own anymore and see how easy it is for them then.
Plus, the woman on it is so irritatingly patronising and everything she suggests is ridiculously simplistic that anybody with half a brain could suggest them. The figures she comes up with seem to come out of nowhere and there is no path as to how she arrived at them.
The people that go on that show would be better off coming onto this website and these forums, they'd learn a hell of a lot more.

    Sorry, rant over.
