There's clearly a whole lot of people on MSE who (but think they do) do not know how to drive on motorways....they'll only realise this at the point when their arse is stuffed through their brains unfortunately.

No wonder people will flash you in a more often as you intentionally annoying some one who is just trying to get to their desination.

Here is a question for you

Some is standing in a door way and you want to get past and they have not moved for 1 minutes?
    a) keep waiting for them to move
    B) say excuse me as you want to get through the door
    c) tell them to get the fu**** out of the way.

My answer would be B. Which is the same as flashing your lights.
If you drive up some one bumper and flash repeatedly flash without giving them chance to move over. That would be the same as answer c.

Though if i asked you to move politely to move you would stand their even longer as you will think its bullying.

    Spot on here.

Rather than flashing "people out of he way", concentrate on your own driving. If you need to overtake, go round them. Calmly and safely.

Lots of people drive as you've described. Driving up behind them and flashing them is NOT the way to behave at 70mph. If you do that, then you're the one who shouldn't be on the road.

    Absolutely spot on.

I've considered buying a monster truck or JCB to run these trundlers off the road.

I loathe people who cannot understand the basic principles of a motorway, the very same people who cause ghost tail backs through their stupid breaking and low level speed in incorrect lanes.

I think the main problem is that motorway driving is not compulsory in order to get a drivers licence. Older people seem to think that the middle lane is the "cruising" lane, the outside one for overtaking. The nervous drivers can't handle HGV's and won't move and everyone else is switching between 2 and 3 as they should be.
I believe that most European countries teach motorway driving and so should we.
I was driving on a motorway two weeks after passing my test. I have lived in Germany most of my life and did a lot of checking of the highway code. Importantly, I took my time and stayed calm!
I have more issues with speeding drivers in villages! GRRRRR

But in Germany if someone does block by siting in the outside lane the box system stops you tailgating them. Mind you I haven't seen it often but have seen it, usually done by either a Brit or Irish driver who has forgotten where they are or an easty who is not used to motorways.

In Germany if someone does block the outside lane (rarely, and hardly ever a German plated car) the car wishing to go by sticks their left hand indicator on til they get the message.

    d) Go through the unblocked doorway just to the right of the blocked doorway.
Option d added to make it relevant to this thread.

Don't get me started on foglights!!

Or me! I saw someone driving along the M40 with fog lights on in normal driving conditions past 2 police cars and neither of them even bothered about it. :(

I hate the stupid people who put their dipped beams at max even though they're only in the car alone with no luggage or heavy items to need them that high.

I have problems with light sensitivity and it blinds me!
