This may give you an idea, but of course your hotel may have a different type of connection. Best to contact them if possible.

As you hint at, WiFi connection may not be available in the rooms, only in designated areas like the lobby.

If you have blue tooth on the laptop, you connect to their system - that is WiFi.

I note she connects at home using a cable to a router so I guess her lap top is not wireless enabled? You will need a link cable to plug into the wall socket. The sockets in Spain are the same as UK, so if she takes the cable she uses to plug in at home that will work.

If you want to tell me which hotel I can contact them on your behalf.

You will enjoy Barcelona. From your avatar I guess you are a footie fan? Make sure you take the open top bus tour and get off at Barsa stadium, it will blow your mind it is awesome.

Her laptop is infact wireless enabled but the hotel says wireless in reception and adsl in rooms so main question was for when she is in her room....
We are going for a football weekend 24th Feb - 26th watching barca V Ath Bilbao we go every Feb for my sons birthday
We managed to get flights stansted to Girona £19.64 each return
Hotel Is called The Barcelona Princess £65 per double room inc breakfast per night so quality trip for low cost really...
Thanks for the tip if you can make some sense of the internet Question from the hotel then please keep intouch.

To save the aggro , why not actually not take the laptop.

I have had a few weekends away and no laptop withdrawal symptoms.

The world wont stop without it.

May be better for duaghter to learn some spanish , see some of the spanish way of life and then tell friends when she gets back.

Sounds great idea in principle but the only way she was gonna come was to bring her laptop as she has a friend who is terminally ill and likes to spend as much time chatting to her as poss when she has a spare moment so maybe another time would be better to go laptopless

I understand most rooms in this hotel have a LAN socket which will accept your UK connector. In addition this hotel also has a computer available for guests to use and if you are really stuck, there are several internet cafes close by. The receptionist speaks good English and will be pleased to help you.

Sorry to hear about daughters friend, you may want to invest in a Skype Web Camera, so that she can keep in touch see http://accessories.skype.com/section?SID=8011af8457060af33b246e02aaf42f1c2ba:4580&secid=39161

If you have time, you may also want to visit Las Ramblas and the Olympic Stadium.

Yes the cable she uses to link to your router should be all you need. Do not forget the power cable and a UK to Spanish adapter. Be sure to update virus and Spyware protection before you go.

Pleased to help and if you need any further info
