ADSL Internet connection In Spain ?

I wonder if anyone maybe able to help..We are travelling to Barcelona for 2 days soon and my daughter is planning on taking her laptop with her to keep intouch with friends etc.My question is on the hotel website it says free wifi connection in lobby and also free ADSL Internet connection in the rooms, does this mean that she would have to obtain a telephone type lead like i used to use in my old dial up days to connect in the room and if so would if fit/work in Spain..
Im so sorry if this seems a dim question but I know how to use a pc when it's working but don't know how to get it working in the first place.
Thanks In advance

I wouldn't have thought that a phone connection cable would be the one, more like an Ethernet type cable. Can you not email the hotel and ask what sort of connection they use?

You'll need clarification first. Obviously an ordinary modem cable won't do. So it will most likely be an ethernet connection (requiring an ethernet port and cable on your laptop) although if so, why they specify ADSL seems odd as it is completely irrelevant to the end user and technically it isn't an adsl connection if it's ethernet. If they are actual telephone points then you'll need an ADSL modem and filter which seems like a lot to expect for every room of a hotel.

Estimados señores, por favor dígame que tipo de enchufe es necesario para la unión ADSL en el cuarto?

(This is a computer translation so it's probably a bit stilted but I think it conveys the meaning OK!)

So what your saying is that an ethernet cable that she uses here to connect to out router should be ok.I just checked again and it does infact state adsl connection in rooms. But if all else fails she can just wander down to the lobby to use the wireless connection. Thanks your help is most useful

I will send the translated email and update you on it to see the response it should be fun if nothing else

Is your daughters laptop set up for wireless connection, as it says free wi-fi connection? If so then it will just be a case of switching on and it should find the connection.

If you have blue tooth on the laptop, you connect to their system - that is WiFi.

I note she connects at home using a cable to a router so I guess her lap top is not wireless enabled? You will need a link cable to plug into the wall socket. The sockets in Spain are the same as UK, so if she takes the cable she uses to plug in at home that will work.

If you want to tell me which hotel I can contact them on your behalf.

You will enjoy Barcelona. From your avatar I guess you are a footie fan? Make sure you take the open top bus tour and get off at Barsa stadium, it will blow your mind it is awesome.

PS: The computer sockets are the same, but of course she will need an adapter for electricity.

That's not true, bluetooth and WiFi are NOT the same. They are different technologies and are not compatible.
