Breast feeding really went out of fashion in the 50s and stayed like that for a good few decades. It was all 'science' and 'food supplements' and why feed a child yourself (and be tied to it!) when you've got these wonderful scientific replacements?! It's part of female emancipation I guess and enabled women to have both babies and careers for the first time.
As we've learnt more about formula versus breast milk it's become the accepted view that breast milk is better for your baby. Formula's good, of course, but not quite as good. Hence the push is now to feed your baby yourself (if you want to and can, of course).
I guess we're mostly daughters of women who were having their own babies during the period when formula was all the rage (I know both my brother and I were bottle-fed). The message was really quite different a few decades ago, hence some of us are getting pressure from our own mothers to 'top up with formula'. Just fashion, innit?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

They are ace, took a long time to train them but its worth it! And the best thing is they are fab with Poppy and she loves to watch them play! My normal size is 32D, my hubby loved the bigger boobs part of pregnancy! Can't believe how big it looks though, my head nearly fits in the cup!! :rotfl:
Ahhmy mil has a labrador but never trained it so Aiden cant go anywhere near it. It scratches my OH t o bits  so has to go in garden when we are there. Shame really but they could never be bothered to do it. She is nearly 1 and not properly toilet trained! X

Took Freddie swimming yesterday. He enjoyed it (I think). He spent the first five or so minutes looking a bit unsure but slowly relaxed and started his usual grinning and even did a bit of kicking.
I loved it. I'm ashamed to say I cried a bit. I adore swimming and always dreamt of one day taking my kids. To be in the pool with a little baby I thought I'd never have made me feel really emotional."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
