Rebekah I'm  on your behalf! That is bad of her. My mil wont use a steriliser for Reuben. She doesn't understand that she should do it because I'm his parent, I make the choices for him - whether they are right or wrong it's MY choice to make, not hers. In your situation I would have to put my foot down - respect my parenting decisions, or you only get supervised access to your grandchild. Very frustrating!!!!

So before she went home the mil admitted to dipping a bottle teat into sugar and giving it to the baby!!! I am livid! She is only 4 weeks for petes sake. What gives her the right grrrrrrrr! All she said was I won't tell you next time. Does she not get it?! Hubby said its not that bad but thats not the point. I sooo don't trust her!

Rebekah  I'm a horrible cow, but I'd tell her in no circumstances would she be left with the child alone. Over your dead body. That to me is completely insane, I am absolutely fuming for you. Make sure your husband knows just how !!!!ed off you are. I thought my MIL was bad.

OMG at the MILs... mine does my head in at times but it's well-intentioned at least.

Just been down the docs - can't get ANY anxiety medication at all anymore unless I allow them to refer me back to perinatal mental health services - who were useless when I was pregnant before... so it's back to the flashbacks and insomnia. She did accept that it IS anxiety related and not depression (I've only been saying this for four months!). Refused the mental health referral - she doesn't quite get my fear of raising any concerns about ability to cope that might flag me to the attention of social services - despite her reassurance attempts that she'd back me and verify I've got a little girl who's thriving - there's just no trust there in the system anymore. Got my booking appt with the midwife sorted for a few weeks time - and will be getting a scan the day after so I'll at least know how things lie then in terms of it should be at a point where the heartbeat's visible so I'll get a yes or no on viability.

Had the health visitor flapping at baby clinic end of last week that she'd put on over 1lb in a week and a bit and it wasn't following a smooth curve (not the usual HV) - I told her there and then I knew we'd hit a growth spurt but she's had me paranoid ever since so despite Erin draining her current bottles I've held off putting the extra oz in yet... was planning on going to baby clinic next week to get her weighed and was going to ask them to do her length again as well as my hunch was her weight was just starting to catch up with her length - sure enough last night I noticed her feet are right at the bottom of the 3-6 month babygros I only put her in a fortnight ago (grrr) and I ran into our usual HV today and her first comment was "flipping heck she's grown". I'm just interested to get an up to date centile line for her length - I'll have a go myself if I can find the flipping tape measure!

Yeah according to my very very rough measurement - she's about the 90somethingth centile UNadjusted on her age for her length! Will bug the HV to do it next week to feed my curiosity but she's flipping looooong!

Wow Dizzi, that's amazing, A is on the 91st line for height I think, he's 74cm and 6 and a half months, and still fits into his 3-6 sleepsuits, they're not tight. He must have a long body and short legs! :rotfl: Well Done Erin on growing. Also if she needs an extra oz, bung it in. Babies do not over eat, the only reason they eat is hunger, anything else will come back up, so HV is silly! xx

Dipping in sugar- can think of worse things that used to be done. That said, the really cheeky part is that your MIL said she won't tell you next time! That's unbelieveable. I'll quite happily look after other children- but would always follow the mothers wishes....

They are your choices. While she may not agree with them- she is not the mother this time.

Both my mum and MIL check with me before they give anything. I know MIL gives her farley's rusks- but granny is giving me free childcare, and only has Rose a couple of times a month- so I don't mind.

Gilly- there's a plus there for you! There's worse than yours out there... A's a beansprout now when I saw him the other day!
