No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in January 2012 Challenge!

Hello Ladies - back after my three night shifts.
Had a UU of day cream which I posted a few days back, and opened a 'hope in a jar' that I had. Well, I'm begining to wonder just how long I have had this jar, and exactly just how long hope lasts!!
Have used it for three days and so far it has caused three spots - just great as I have a wedding to go to on Saturday! Also, it smells kind of funny, but I seem to remember thinking this the very first time I used it. I do love the texture tho. So, have found a 30ml PCMC that I am going to use for the next few days, then will give HIAJ another go. Anymore spots and it's going in the bin. Lesson to self, products 'go off' do not buy more than you can use!
Now, onto smelling nice to go to bed - I THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST ME!!!!!! So nice to know that others do the same. My friends think I'm nuts. But that said, they did buy me 'sheet spray' from the US (restoration hardware I love you!) I use this on the days I have put clean sheets on the bed - so lovely!!

Just wondered if I'm weird......but once I've got ready for bed, I choose a perfume or body spray to put on. Its not even for romantic reasons....I just like to smell nice while drifting off to sleep.
Nope its not just you, I do it as well. Although I don't limit the scent to Chanel No5 like Marilyn MonroeNo buying toiletries Graduated May 2017Decluttered 2016 2469 items, 2017 1580 items :j2018 3060 itemsSealed Pot Challenge No 0380 -
Looking for a bit of advice, not had my hair cut for about 7/8 months, it was short but is now getting too long and scraggily.
My friend used to cut it but she has moved away, I don't have much to spend and don't have time to sit in a hairdressers for several hours either. I really quite dislike the basins in the hairdressers, can I wash my hair at home and go into my local hairdresser for a haircut rather than having to pay for a cut/blow dry? I don't know if that's cheeky?:o
I used to hate having my hair blow dried at the hairdressers, so I used to wash my hair the mornng I was having it cut (cos I always use mousse and hairspray) then the hairdresser used to spray it before cutting. They just charged my the price of a dry cut.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -
I have poker straight fine hair that the hairdresser is happy to dry trim. The only time it gets wet cut is if more than three inches has to come off. Which has only happened once in 15 years...
No UUs, but my friend loved the sample of Pantene for fine hair that I gave her, so I may have found a home for one of my bottles. I bought one when it was on offer in Wilko last year and got on the Supersavvyme trial too. I'm convinced the old Pantene is the same as the new Pantene, just the bottle changed.
A small calculation ...the way I now use the Lush solid shampoo I have is extremely economical. Previous Lush bars lasted some five months, this one could practically go the year.
I mentioned it before, now we do have more participants I'll mention again. I do recommend the method, you don't get the bar wet, but apply the dry bar to wet hair. You stroke the bar down the hair and wash hair as if you were sponging fabric between your palms, without tangling. As the lather is worked up on the hair, it cleans very efficiently. Minimal water needed to rinse, hair is squeaky clean very quickly.
Since I stopped tangling my hair when washing it and treated it with a lot more care it has looked so much better. If you smooth liquid shampoo between your palms and apply it gently to wet hair, washing it down the length rather than tangling with large amounts of lather flying everywhere, a small amount of shampoo cleans very efficiently and rinses out so quickly as lather is minimal.
I wish I'd known this when I used to go camping and caravanning.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
re hair cuts,i always had mine wet cut as the hairdresser said that is what I needed, when she left another hairdresser said a dry cut was fine.I never used to have a blow dry as my hair is curly and used to go home with wet hair.I now have a wella massage treatment which is wash/deep condidioning mask( with massage )left on under the heat machine then wash and dried under the machine.I started doing this as the cost for about an hour and a quarter is £33 compared to a dry cut of £20 ish so seemed much better value esp as every 5th treatment is free:)
pont is ask for what is best for you and don't be bullied into a wash/blow dry if you don't want it.
forgot to say the hairdresser cuts my hair dry before she washes etc0 -
OUT! Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser 30ml sold for £17 on ebay :j Quite chuffed considering it was opened, though only used once as my god my skin hates it. WNBA EVER!
But um a few ins... bought some ingredients for vit C serum, acid peels and zinc oxide last night. Does it still count if they're in chemical form?
Every few days I contemplate selling perfumes on ebay but I just can't do it, I know I will miss them and buy them again.
I threw out a lot of make up last night, my non-everyday stuff now fits into a GB box!
I've got a pile of stuff I can't bare to throw away as it's new or used once (think eyeshadow palette where I've used one once) but don't know what to do with it. It's not worth the hassle of listing a job lot on ebay for a fiver and I don't know anyone who wants it (was thinking it'd be good for kids who like dressing up). Freecycle?
mcculloch i've never tried using bar shampoo dry! It's so difficult to get a decent lather, maybe it's London water, maybe it's my hairI noticed yesterday that I lose a lot of hair in the bath but 1) it looks like loads cause the hairs are long 2) i don't brush my hair, the only time it gets "brushed" is when i gently run conditioner through with my fingers once or if i'm bored in a lecture and again it's just my fingers and there are no knots. Is this weird? It's just so fine and well oiled it never get knotty! Anyone else not brush their hair?

^well done on your sale
I didn't think you were able to sell used toiletries or cosmetics on ebay though.
UU1 - Nivea Daily Essentials Cream wash sample. WBA as it made my skin feel so soft and didn't irritate or dry it out - which facewash usually does.
UU2 - Clinique Moisture surge sample. I actually TA this as tested a bit and it's far too dark for me. Plus it felt cakey, more like foundation than tinted moisturisers. WNB this.0 -
