For the past (approx) 9 months I've been washing my face with a Clinique soap. It lasted incredibly well but got down to such a small piece that I couldn't rub any more off it. In my utter reluctance to buy another one (£12 a pop!), and my additional reluctance to spend £3+ on a facewash (what s skinflint) I did a wee bit of research and bought an 80p bar of Wrights Coal Tar Soap to use instead. It's antibacterial and doesn't look to have any of the chemical rubbish I'm sure hides away in most shower gels and facewashes.

Thus far it's really excellent. Washes my oily face lovely and clean and didn't dry it out, and this morning I used it with my exfoliatey gloves on my body too. I've made a little note in my study diary of when I started using it because I'm really curious to see how long a bar lasts.

I think soap is my new favourite beauty product.

You might also like Dudu Osun which is an African black soap which claims to work wonders on all kinds of skin. I buy it in East London for about 90p a bar.

Somewhere back in the thread sarah*a offered me some moisturiser that was from Clix, so kind, but mine is a different colour- a pink pot with green lid (or is it green pot with pink lid?!) and I really do have enough for the year, as I have some old favourites (unopened) to return to, bought as gifts.

Hasn't this thread FLOWN ... this happened last year too. Welcome to all newbies! I hope newbies do hang around.
    UU's
Something I was gifted S/H as unloved - Dove Rich Nourishing Beauty Body Moisturiser. This may have been open a while from the previous owner but it didn't go off and I enjoyed using it. Typical Dove product, lovely Dove scent, a thick lotion that rubs in really well, and as such is quite economical. WIBA? Yes, but probably next year! So much to use up this year...
Batiste dry shampoo 150 ml original. This only lasted for some 4-5 applications and I have quite short hair. Not economical, then. Brought back memories of brushing out talc in my schooldays - which is all many dry shampoos are anyway, that and cornflour. Batiste works a lot better than talc did, with no frantically itchy scalp, and whilst I may buy it again, my hair is quickly washed and dried.

I used it up because I had a cold and didn't want to sit with wet hair. I've got a puffer pack of dry shampoo that is a lot like using talc, will use that up first ...eventually!

I may have something for the FB swaps group, thanks to gifts I can't use. A first!

Edited to add - I never use cleanser, always have used soap and always will. My skin is good and has never objected to this. Imperial Leather, Lux, Camay, Pears, Wright's Coal Tar, Simple and currently Dove. My face has known and loved them all. Do they still make that 'deo soap' Shield? I've just remembered one from my childhood, called Breeze... bet very few remember that!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • Another UU - Australian Igloo Sugar Scrub. WBA but trying to resist the Lush sale at the mo! Also a cheeky IN - bottle of Original Source Vanilla & Cocoa Bath. Only £1.10!

Hm, I live in the grim North in Northumberland so might be a bit tricky to get a hold of... But that's the wonder of the internet. Thanks for the tip ;)

I've been brave this morning and NOT used any moisturiser after it just to see if it stops my skin getting as oily through the day.

Sainsbury's sell it too. I quite like the smell when I've used it previously :)

For the second-hand fix, could those with beauty boxes be sure to share the contents please? :A

Evilsquid That's not on about the boxes. I'm surprised people still subscribe to gb if they're putting different products in depending on whether you're a serious blogger or not  [STRIKE]When I eventually subscribe,[/STRIKE] you ladies have me leaning towards feelunique and amarya :)

Ouch  - sounds like quite a nasty reaction. Hope it heals quickly.

I have another UU - Lancome freebie foundation. WPBA (possibly) as it did go well. The coverage was a bit on the lighter side for the winter but in summer would be fine. I really liked the small bottle with spatula that they gave with it. I am going to keep this and use it on my travel as it is such a handy size.

Also my sure deo is almost out as well and should only last another day or two.

Burts Bees, Beeswax lip balm tin and a tinted lip balm

Sally Hansen (so not in the natural theme) was buy one get one 1/2 price so I got 2 rapid dry top coats that I've seen rave reviews on.

the I got some bits from the Naked range for Kids - so they don't count :rotfl:

    *SPOLIER, SPOILER, SPOLIER*

Right Amarya box has just arrived :) So look away now if you don't want to know what is in it :)

Dr Hauschka - Creme a la Rose Day Cream 30ml. So this is the full size product and would normally cost £23.95 so the box is paid for already :)
John Masters Organics - Jojoba and ginseng Exfoliating Face Cleanser 5ml (Normal price for 118ml is £26)
Caudalie - Vinoperfect Enzymatic Peel Mask 3ml-Cant find this on the website but the least expensive caudalie product is £7 so its still a good sample :)

and im going to use the box - for something - not quite figured out what yet haha!

All in all very pleased with first box and i like the fact its all facial skincare (which i love)

It says something on the card about an invite for a friend and you both get an extra box but i dont seem to have the invite so as soon as i do (facebooked Amarya) then i will get back to you....tell me if you are interested :)

Here is the little blurbs about the ranges if anyone is interested

" Dr Hauschka. With the extract of over 1075 organic rose petals in each tube, this rich, beautifully scented and bestselling moisturiser will regenerate the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and calm. A fantastic cream for reducing redness and couperose conditions"

"John Masters. A luxury beauty range that combines high performance products with ethical, yet innovative, ingrediants. treating the skin and the earth with equal respect"

"Caudalie. Using a patented formula of grape-seed polyphenols from their own home-grown grapes, Caudalie offers a range of high anti-oxidant, anti-aging products"

I do wish my Joliebox wasn't delayed until next month :( - its quite exciting recieving these :D

God people on Facebook complaining already.............im not quite sure what you can complain about with getting £26 worth of products for a tenner.
