Does anyone want to venture a New Year's resolution?

    I'll kick off with....

'This year I intend to indulge my own needs!'

    :o:)

I haven't got any, but is what I plan to do, most definitely.

    Nothing like pleasing oneself! :D

I worry about setting myself a resolution which I will never meet, and despair about it.

I need to get back to a learning attitude again. It's difficult justifying spending on training though when you might need that money for a rainy day.

I like the Portuguese(?) tradition of eating 12 sultanas and getting a wish.

To stalk Generali even more than I do now. Generali, I've worked for Portuguese people and didn't know about the 12 sultanas, I'm so full of admiration for people who genuinely know - and remember - so much diverse information.

I wish I could give blood, but there's a question about 'Have you ever slept with someone from Africa', or some such? And, as I lived in Africa for 26 years, and in fact, am still sleeping with someone from Africa, I can't, apparently. Pity, it's an easy way to, literally, 'give something back', and good for you too!

Happy New Year to you all - I'm addicted to this board as well. I've learnt so much.

Now, if only I could remember it all....

    xx

It winds me up and I do try to 'talk' to it and tell it to go away but still it hides and makes me wired and more stressed than I should be. I guess it's because we have always had our own biz so all income comes (or not) from our own efforts. Every day is a blank page.
If anypne has any tips would be appreciated as I think it's something that is a negative in my outlook rather than a driver.

I suppose you can't get the sack :)

to lose some weight, to be less bossy (i need to get out of the teacher mode for my job, so need to be more directing in asking people what they want rather than trying to persuade them what they need to do), to hopefully buy the house and do all the work gradually - as everest wasn't climbed in a day. I'd like to give blood as ive said i would for years. To use the gym more, as i've paid it for 6 months now intending to use it but still haven't in the last 4. And to take life as it comes, no point in rushing and leave things to others cos they are more than capable of doing things

This year I have survived getting a lodger, getting a scooter (so far, drivers beware) and work restructuring roles, but I've not really *done* anything to be proud of. On the bad side I missed out on a promotion at work which was upsetting.

I would like to get a new job this year. One with better pay would be good, but the atmosphere at work is so poisonous at the moment I've been tempted to just throw the towel in. Thankfully common sense has prevailed so far but it is a close thing.

So, have more patience and find new job will be my resolutions!

Sorry about your missed promotion, but I graduated during the last recession and survival is the most important thing to build up a decent CV for the recovery, so you hang on in there.

I'm going to get back to running 10kms and learn some Turkish.

I've just finished an 8km run, boy it was hard physically and also mentally when I remember back to running twice as far at the same pace and not being so worn out. I'm defeinitely work in progress as far as the running goes.

I think that there are some pitfalls when you're working to regain your fitness. You run at the pace you think you should be running at or that you remember being able to maintain easily, and your body isn't on the same page!

That said, knowing what you're capable of is great motivation and if you put in the time and the miles you'll probably get back up to your old level of fitness surprisingly quickly.
