Got a letter from Halifax today re ppi! £4200! So that is Hong Kong paid for plus 3k off my debt :)

Anyone know if we have to pay tax on this? MrS was asking if I did and I have no idea.

ETA: Also, I can pay off 2 debts in full I think where I have been paying the min for a few years, but it hasn't got to DCA. Have any of you had any experience of offering a F&F that is less than the outstanding amount on a long running debt?

Keeping this off FB (I know you won't say anything) as I don't really want my friends knowing as they won't understand why I won't actually really have any of it.

I didn't expect anything from it, but the girl on the phone gave me all my account numbers including ccs with the words 'give them some work to do, you might as well try for it' and this is what I got! :j:j:j

I withdrew some money from my savings recently, ooh which I haven't allocated yet so vinternet can have that as a PAD of £800, and am adding it to another savings account to pay off Fred (my car for those who don't know him, not some loan shark :D) One of the women at work knows that I covet a Mulberry bag and doesn't understand why I haven't just used the £800 to buy it, but I could clear my loan by Christmas and don't want to mess that up.

I know what it's like to have friends who don't understand :rotfl:

They would definitely think I'm taking the P if I claimed to be skint yet have got 4k coming my way.... if I wasn't in my position, I'm not sure I'd understand either :rotfl:

But HK is now almost paid for, so that's a relief :) and I should be at least 75% paid off when/if the money clears :)

Biggest PAD yet from me - I bought a jacket in the sales for £90  (I don't buy many clothes, think I've just worked out why!!!). Anyway, I decided although it was lovely, I could survive without it so I sent it back for a refund and have today PADded the whole £90 to my Virgin credit card :A
