Thanks everybody for great advice. Nearly went all out for Harveys but glad I looked on here as they are so expensive.

We run a combi boiler WorcesterBosch. So given I should not fill the heating side with softneded water.

Only problem I have is seperate filling loop. The way the pipes are its near impossible. I was thinking of simply using the bypass method. Has anyone tried this.

So if needing to fill the heating system. Isoloate the softner and open the bypass valve. Then run hot water for a while to flush through any softnened water left in the boiler cold feed pipe. Once done simply open the internal filling loop. Re-pressure the heating system and once done. renable the softner and close bypass valve.

Also looking at the options it seems a Monarch is the the best if high flow rate is needed. is that the case , thank you

That's how we re-fill our heating too. Just switch the taps to shut off the softener and then re-fill heating.

I have found this site selling the monarch for £468 with free delivery. Unsure about the installation kit supplied. http://www.ccdiscountheating.co.uk/index.php?cPath=112

Because it has all the appearance of a post made purely to promote a product or company.

I shouldn't worry. If no one else agrees with me your post will remain in place.

    Hello all,

Firstly thank you to everyone for your knowledgeable help and input on this forum. After all of this - at the very least I'm now convinced on getting a single tank system.
I have read as much as I can and still have a few questions and hope to get some input on a few of the softeners I'm looking at.

q1) The age-old question of a 'hard' drinking tap. I know it’s recommended but its also recommended to drink 2 liters of water day – some do, some don’t. Do we have a proportion of people that do and don’t drink softened water?

q2) These high capacity kits, 22mm pipes - I'm lost. My rising main is 15mm so do I just connect the 22mm to the 15mm with a reducer?

q3) Does anyone believe this ‘High Grade ULTRA Monospheric Resin’ makes a huge amount of difference?

q4) I assume the water softener is unable to/does not remove any of the horrid chemicals water companies are subjecting us to?

q5) I’ve limited my choice to a possible three and would gretly appriciate any feedback/input, good bad or ugly:
    Monarch Midi
    TapWorks AD11
Wrekin ECO15 Ultra HC or Wrekin Laser Ultra 15L Eco Friendly

    Many thanks,
    Sean

Hi i have been looking for a whole house water filter as we have extremely hard water and have a constant battle with limescale build up.

i've read concerning reports about salt adding filter systems and came across this below.

    Scale Centurion Filter.

does anyone have experience of this product and is it worth installing?

    many thanks.

On the basis that you're genuinely enquiring about this, perhaps you could share with us the 'concerning reports' - I've never seen any.

As to the filter you mention, I've never heard of it, and I doubt many other here have. This is a thread relating to water softeners and the product you mention is some kind of filter, presumably.

Filters very rarely soften water effectively, so I'd give it a miss if I were you. :)

I had a TapWorks AD11 softener many years ago, great bit a kit with a flow meter rather than timer for regeneration was a great plus point for it did not use salt wastefully when water was not in use.
