Does anyone have any experience of the Atlantis AT210 softener (mentioned speculatively earlier in this thread)?
Any feedback on the Coral / Laser from any owners?0 -

How long have you been employed by Atlantis ?0 -
Hi All,
We have a large household. My wife and I, our 4 children and 2 lodgers. We have a large boiler room, and in it is a dead MC350 waterside softener, which I have activated the bypass on. The MC350 was there when we moved in. When you turn it on appears to be trying to open a value, but the motor seems to be skipping. It continues to do this for a couple of hours, then beeps until you turn it off. I believe this particular unit has bad reviews. Eg. flooding if power failure during regeneration etc. So I'm loathes to spend a couple of hundred quid getting it fixed. If the boiler room floods then we'd be in trouble since it's slightly higher than the living areas.
Given I have the room, and a lot of people, should I do for something with a high capacity? or is it not worth it? E.g. Mistral water softener with Autotrol Logix 255-760 (or 255-740) has lots of size options. From 4L to 22L of resin with about £80 difference. There is room for the bigger sizes but it will be a squeeze and I would like opinion as to whether it's worth it.
Likewise, given that we have lots of people, then sometimes we're all there. And sometimes we're ALL out (e.g. on holiday (not together, but the lodgers may go away sometimes) but the metered valve (Autotrol 255-760) is £50 more than the timer. Is it worth it?
Another practical note, do the single cylinder metered ones wait until they know you're not likely to use the water before they start regenerating? Or do they just do it when a 'certain amount' of water has been used regardless of 'when' that may be. E.g. in the middle of running a bath.
I don't want to buy an expensive one. The kids are already eating me out of house and home
Over to you good people.

Hi Mr C.
Go for the 22 litre metered model.. in your case it will be worth the extra cash.
Properly set up single cylinder metered machines nearly always regenerate at 2 am in the morning the day before they are due to run out of softening capacity..
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi All,
Decided to go for a reconditioned ESD518 fitted by the local ecowater dealer for total (inc fitting) £500+VAT. It's got 18L of resin and is metered, including 3Yr guarantee and 7x25kg of bags of salt. We'll see how it pans out, but I'm hoping it's a good size for us. There's some reassurance that the dealer fitted it rather than a plumber, as if there are any problems with the softener it will be them fixing it. (Note previous softener fittings existed so no real change to plumbing involved).
I'll let you know if it explodes

I've just bought the a 'water saver' model of the Coral 15 Litre that Joe and Matt have discussed and hope to have it installed next week.
I just wanted to let everyone know I've come across a great website to compare quotes and ratings for installing your softener: Myhammer.com0 -
Had a visit from Harveys last week and decided to go online and do some research - glad I found this thread.
New build house - 2 bathrooms, 2 people - so don't need anything too big nor complicated.
I have shortlisted 3 water softeners and need some advice on choosing which one to go for.
- GE Autotrol Logix metered unit
- Tapworks AD11 NEW EASYFLOW Meter Controlled Water Softener
- Coral 15 Litre
Advice and recommendations appreciated.
If there is anyone in West London that can supply and fit then do drop me a PM.
