I have 2 kittens and got their insurance with Argos and Churchhill. Both lots of insurance only worked out at about £20 for the year as I got casback via Topcashback. I would suggest you pick different companies for each kitten to maximise the casback opportunities. When it's up for renewal next year you can shop around again for more casback deals. This doesn't work once they are older as companies won't take on old cats but you should be able to save a bit in the coming years.

As they seem to have been strays I would get them deflea'd, wormed etc fairly soon, if you haven't already. You can buy drops for the back of their neck that do everything in one go.

And yes, we need pics lol.

    Evening all
The week before christmas my hubby went into the shed to get out the christmas lights and came out holding 2 kittens. They were cold, dirty and smelly and Mum was nowhere to be seen. We have left down food incase Mum comes back and she hasnt. I hope where ever she is she knows her pair of kittens and warm safe and well and should she pop back so shall she.
I have been in touch with the RSPCA, CPL and Animal trust and they couldnt take them. The Animal Trust may help us in the new year with the cost of vaccinations.
Now we have 2 six year old cats who to be fair have been very tolerant of the kitties my 2 older children have bonded and named them so it looks like there stopping:T
As we didnt know they were coming so to speak we havent really the money for jabs so if possible will take up the Animal Trusts offer. What worrying me though is insurance which im a firm beliver in. The older 2 are with petinsurance.co.uk which I think is E&L which from my research today don't seem to enjoy paying out. Both of my older cats have been insured from day one with them and weve never claimed. They do have there for life policy which costs about 6 pounds a cat per lunor month. The kittens would cost about the same.
While looking at Esure and also Tesco they seamed cheaper but I dont believe they are for life policies.
We really would have put some money by for this sort of thing had we have known what santa was going to bring us this year. So on the look of it what looks the better policy please Tesco or Esure? id be happy to take all 4 cats over to them or should I stick with whom im already with? I think its the reading of them not being helpful with claims that got me worried.
The vets wants £54pet cat for jabs or £84 with microchipping:eek:

I'd find a new vet. Those prices are ridiculous.
  • Afternoon all. Were just in the process of the pictures and thank you all for your comments. Glyn those prices are about right for where we live. I actually used to work in the local vets before I had my daughter and all the vets round here are mainly part of groups and all charge the same. My daughters currenlty playing with George who found his favourite place to play is in the clean washing waiting to be ironed pile LOL
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

Thanks for your comment. I've lived in GB and know that vet fees are a racket but even by those standards what OP has quoted is high. We live in Ulster now and our vet charges a fraction (not joking) of those. For example, neutering: £30.
  • Hi again Glyn the plan of action now after being on the phone to a vets 40 ish miles away is going to be to take them to be jabbed and microchipped there. Even taking the petrol into account its going to be cheaper for us. Im in Leicestershire and im thinking easy pets I think its called in Northampton from the link given by another posted above. When our guinea pig had a poorly eye and im going back now 9 years and sadly shes no longer with us. The vet said some straw had caught her eye and accidently grazed it. An antibiotic eye cream and painkilling injection was over £50. These 2 kittens are bringing us so much happiness.

    Wow! That's cheap.

Talking around £80 here for the jabs .... and over £100 for neutering (maybe why there's such a problem with unwanted pets .....)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!

It's the policy of venture capital supporting vet chains. They want a bigger return on their money. Small private practices make the best vets and are much cheaper.
  • Morning Glyn
I couldnt agree more well especially with one of the big chains here which funnily enough is the one I used to work at. The one we go to with the older 2 is again yes a chain but they do seam to care a lot more and are cheaper by far than where I used to work. Theyve seen one of mine before and never charged me a penny.
