So as you've failed to inform yourself your comment has no merit.BackOnTrack wrote: »but this is a typical knee jerk reaction to a perceived wrong.
No, it isn't, it's not kneejerk. My aversion to loan sharking/pay day loans etc has been formed over a long period.BackOnTrack wrote: »Martin Lewis has actually spoke a lot of sense on this topic and you probably should have read what he had to say before setting up a thread like this.
I'm not the OP. As I already explained to you, you do need to read a thread before you'll be able to contribute to it. Otherwise you'll post daft stuff like this.BackOnTrack wrote: »A capped total cost to the loan that Martin suggested
Yes, correct, payday loans in their current form have to be abolished.BackOnTrack wrote: »would be far more sensible approach than your rallying call to ban them and give loan sharks more business back.
No, you don't understand, that's not what's been suggested here. Again, if you'd read the thread you wouldn't make such elementary mistakes as this. No, what you need to understand is that along with oppressive payday loans illegal loan sharking must also be suppressed. Your notion that illegal loan sharking could take the place of payday loans is incorrect.BackOnTrack wrote: »Better regulation is a far preferable approach to an outright ban.
You're simply contradicting yourself with this meaningless statement. Payday loans in their current form need to be banned by use of better regulation.0 -
Its not that we don't care, its more just a general feeling of ambivalence.
Good, well, I'm glad that you care, well done. However there are some vile people here who don't care about poor, weak, desperate and stupid people being ground into the dirt.
Yes, ambivalence is a problem.Explain Simon Cowell then.
There's nothing wrong with music business, tv and mass entertainment. They give great joy to huge numbers of people. Yes, along with a lot of people I find him and his products frequently inferior and unpleasant but mass entertainment isn't aimed at the intelligentsia and people of refinement and taste, it's for the masses. I'm very happy for the masses enjoying their pap, it gives them pleasure and that's valid, that's a good thing."Quick Maggie!, the red commies are back! To the bunker!"
Not the bunker, we need to set up stocks in the high streets and put the miscreants in on a regular and learn 'em some manners the hard way.0 -

Yes, you are, aren't you. Oh dear. Well, stop defiling yourself in this manner, it's not good for you.Amba_Gambla wrote: »over the fact that there are still idiots like you in the world

Whether or not you're capable of avoiding damnation via payday loans is irrelevant. You're missing the point. The point is that payday loans are destroying lots of people, that's the point. Your intellect is insufficient to understand these simple points, as you here demonstrate again.0 -
Ok, you think i'm wrong.
I don't think you're wrong, I know you're wrong.has anyone ever told you you're a patronising know it all
Yes, some people like you get rude like this when your error is called to account and exposed for what it is. Your sort often compound your error instead of making amends.I have my opinions, you have yours, just accept it.
No, you're wrong and I do not accept you supporting payday loan companies ruining weak, poor and stupid people's lives. You and your sort are part of the problem and I will always expose your wrongness and denigrate it. I will never accept big business crushing pathetic people underfoot nor will I ever accept any supporters of same.0 -
PDL's have just staken over where firms like Provident have left off, to some extent.
I wouldn't go near one, but, people do, and as I understand them, if the debt is paid quickly, and on time, it's not that horrendous, interest wise.
Much, much better than the local loan shark, and I remember them years ago, holding benefit payment books hostage, and terrorising entire streets.
If you try to ban PDL's, we will just end up with an increase in the local criminals lending money.
Unfortunately, the poor, and those with bad credit ratings, end up paying more for credit, and it's always been the same.
My advice to ANYONE who cannot use normal bank credit (and even if they can), is to open a Credit Union account - they are reasonable, with interest, make small loans, and encourage savings. I've had one from when I worked, and I get a reasonable return on my savings, and they are handy for a quick loan, if required.
At one time, you had to be saving to borrow, but some have relaxed that rule now. Many are also increasing their facilities to include cheque books, ways to pay salaries ad benefits in and pay out with direct debits.
Most areas operate them, and they make much more financial sense than these high interest credit firms.

LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
My my goodz, we have been a busy troll.0

If payday loans are banned. Credit unions will collapse shortly afterwards (unless they get serious about who they lend to).
PDL offer a good and competitively cheap service but the service is abused by far too many. Those no hopers will end up destroying credit unions.
The only way to protect themselves is by distancing themselves from the bulk of PDL customers.
Like most tirading posters, this thread is only here because "someone" has tried to rip off a lender and is now grumpy as his plan didn't work out.
We talk of financial education in school, for now, why not settle for ANY type of education?0 -
I don't think it's naive, judging by the number of replies I've generated on this thread I'm expressing my points quite comprehensively.
You think the large number of replies asking you to actually make a point instead of spouting rhetoric means that you've expressed your points well?
With respect, you're either a fool or a troll at this point and either way I've got better things to do with my time.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I serve them up medium rare.
Goodz - does anyone understand? Is everyone else wrong? Are you a knobhead? Do people randomly punch you in the face?
If you reply with any more complete gibberish then I am getting you banned from speaking again ever, anywhere.

....
Generally speaking, credit unions are already pretty serious about who they lend to - they wouldn't be interested in lending money to the kind of people who use and abuse PDLs.0
