or, more worryingly, you have a mental health issue possibly in that you are living at the extremes

There is nothing wrong with PDL companies offering the service that they do. Many SENSIBLE people use them every day and find their services useful. I used them in the past when I was short of a few bob some months, I probably would again if i was ever in that situation.

The key to this (and the whole !!!!!!!g mess this country is in right now) is the blame society. Too many people were quite happy to go borrowing the money when times where good, and now they can't pay it back they want to blame somebody else for their greed, desperation and inability to control their own spending.

PDL companies do not FORCE people to borrow their money and it's not their fault if YOU can't pay it back on time like you promised when you borrowed it. If you can't REPAY then don't BORROW somebody elses money.

Simple.

The bad thing about illegal loan sharking is that they make peoples lives hell by threatening them with serious bodily damage not only to themselves but also family members which in turn makes people to scared to report them to the authorities - thats why they blossomed in the first place.

The idiots will still be there, in plentiful supply desperately searching for that next fix of someone else cash to waste and not bother repaying.

The Credit Unions will be hit hard and fast by the idiots and be forced to take action, thus removing the facility they provide to those who need it most.

The rest of the population simply don't need high risk loans as they can budget and be in the fortunate position of having banks fighting for their custom.

I'm not suggesting perfection, that's a mostly relative and unattainable ideal. And no, there's no craving.

Evidently you haven't realised yet that along with money saving this site and many of its users are also interested in consumer rights and the rights and wrongs of all sorts of things happening in UK and further afield.
