Morning everyone. I hope those with children are all enjoying half term, and those without are enjoying the quite roads on the drive to work.

I have made more big steps over the last couple of days in preparation for getting debt free in time to start a teacher training placement (if I'm accepted on one of course). Yesterday I cancelled my lovefilm subscription and gym membership. Today I shall be calling o2 to see when I can switch to giff gaff (though I think that won't be til the end of March) and cancelling my union membership (if I'm leaving I won't be needing that security).

So technically no new savings just yet, but more steps in the right direction. And just found out that mum is paying for the trip to the zoo on Saturday, which saves another £25 :T.

Hey antonia, i've just applied for a GTP (teachers training course) waiting to hear back from schools but aparently, if you've seen the TDA email that was sent around, they've have 21,000 applicants onto the GTP programme with different universities, and there are only 4,000 spaces.

To that I wish you good luck! and PM me or post on here (if i get to check it) how u get on. :D

Hi TheAllenCadenhead and welcome to the team!!! Sounds like you're well on track already :T
I'm just in the middle of cleaning my room but came on here to tell you all my fiasco with my gym ball! I'll do my updating later this afternoon if that's ok and let you have your number then? I think there are a couple of other newbies so I can't just guess as I like to put people in order that they'd joined. What GTP have you applied to do? i.e. maths, science etc...?

Oops! I'll sort this out for you this afternoon hun when I do the rest of my updating if that's ok... :o

I've got a gym/physio ball for doing core workouts but it has deflated quite a bit so I bought a football pump a few weeks ago with an attachment for the gym ball... Anyway, I kept pumping and it did nothing... My dad had a go but still nothing... So I took it with me to Liverpool last night as 2 of my friends are fitness freaks and knew they'd be able to sort it out... No... It kept staring at me, mocking me so I finally googled it and found out that...........drum roll please........... I HAD TO TAKE THE BL00DY PIN OUT FIRST!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Honestly I feel like such an eejit!!!

Anyway, my funny story doesn't there. Feeling smug because I now knew how to inflate it, I took the pin out and air started GUSHING out... I quickly inserted the pump and started pumping like mad. So much so that the end of the pump broke off and got stuck inside the opening of the ball with air gushing out!!! I had to deflate the ball so much that I could lever out the bottom of the pin from the side of the ball. I managed to attach it again and started pumping........

Honestly, my bl00dy arms are killing me!!!!!!!!! So funny though :rotfl: xxx

Thanks for all the advice about going to my sister's 30th.
It's not like a wedding with a top table or anything - it's just the place only let you have 11 people on a table before they charge you £55 a head, so they've split up the group into 2 tables.

My dilemma is I suppose I could technically afford it but then it will take me longer to clear my debt and I don't think it's worth spending on especially when I'm not going to enjoy it. She has made an effort to keep the price down and she's not exactly rolling in money herself, so I don't think she'd understand me saying I don't want to spend the money. Her philosophy is to spend money on the things that matter and ask 'the Universe' to provide what you need! My philosophy is more along the lines of Martin's 'Is it worth it?' money mantras.

I don't want to upset her though, but she always tells me I shouldn't do stuff if I don't want to, so I guess I just have to be honest. I'm going to see if I can get the afternoon off at work so we can spend some time together instead.

Sounds like a great compromise hun, I take it she's yet to have her LBM? Honesty is definitely the best policy xxx

That's a very disturbing thought in that you are probably right! I've just tilted my kingsize bed (inc. mattress) vertically up against the wall and now my arms are shaking!!! Can't face dragging the hoover all the way up the stairs though so will vacuum on my hands and knees instead... :rotfl:

Great to have you on the team Jubilee76 :T:T:T myfitnesspal is fantastic (must go back on it now my birthday is over...) :o

This thread is even better though (might be biased a little... :rotfl:). Seriously though, the most common two problems that cause massive issues are 1) debt problems and 2) being overweight. Between these two websites then we should be able to achieve our goals in both areas. There is such great support, encouragement and advice on the thread here and also on the MSE in general. Add to that the ease of use on myfitnesspal and the forum on there and you cannot fail to succeed. We are all in this for the long haul and most have been here for a number of years with humungous debts. Now is the year to say goodbye to ALL our debt and ALL our extra weight. 2013 is going be such an amazing year for us all :A

Do you want to track your weightloss on here too? If so then just let me know the amount of lbs or kgs you want to lose and then update me whenever you weigh yourself and I'll record it with everyone elses on the first page xxx

    Afternoon all.
jakes-mum - I do hope you start to feel better and shake off the cold.

vwcampervan mum - Glad DD liked her room :) Also a little off topic, if you don't mind me asking, is that your splitty in your avatar? It's gorgeous :D My ex had an old bay camper. We went touring Germany in it one holiday, went to a German Vdub show and to the VW factory/museum at Wolfsburg. Left the cool box plugged in accidentally while we went round the museum and had to push it in the car park at Wolfsburg to get it to start. Major embarrassment :o

My sister is having her 30th birthday party on Friday at some swanky London club with an expensive menu which I'm going to be forced to eat from PLUS I just found out there is a 'music charge' too. And because so many people are coming she is relegating me to the second table. Her hubby just sent an email saying 'thanks for being understanding', well I'm not! I don't want to go! But I can't really tell her that...especially since it's her 30th! But she's forcing me into spending loads of money! What do you guys think I should do?

It's difficult to know what to do isn't it. I do think it's ruddy rude that your own sister would relegate you to the second table. That would really irk me to be honest and then having to fork out for an expensive evening on top of that. If you truly don't want to go/can't afford to go I think I would have to tell her so (I know it's easy to say) or it will really bug you all night if you go and for how ever long afterwards. Do you think your sister would be funny about it if you said you weren't going?

I don't really go for milestone birthdays - and that's nothing to do with being 40 this year btw :rotfl: ... it's just another birthday isn't it.

EDIT: just saw your more recent note. I think spending some of the day together would be a nice thing to do.

My car insurance didn't go up by very much at all when I changed to business use, though it was years ago granted.
