I think that the originator of this thread has gotten a bit excited about something that might not or maybe should not happen.
Since when has the check-in desk staff been able to upgrade a client?
This is possible against company policy and maybe a breach of the rules.
There is always a list of "op ups" and staff/freinds will be at the bottom, fare paying passengers take presedence. I know you will say "Auntie" is fare paying but she is in Economy, there are then premium and then upper class passengers.
Those in the know will also be aware that there is a code of dress and conduct for Virgin staff/realtions/friends etc.
Best bet if you know a staff member on THAT flight especially the Captain !
There is clue there for auntie?
Steve
Yes that's what I thought she has already purchased her ticket on-line so how can they upgrade her? I just don't get it :-( her ticket has been issued so how can they just up-grade it without her being put down as a friend. I thought you would have had to cancel and then re-book.
Thanks

The only way to get an upgrade as a friend is to book through staff travel.
You cannot rock up to the check in desk and say you know somebody who works for the company! It simply won't work. I'm sure the check in staff have a number of blaggers a day!
