My advice- Don't read any "How to" books damn sure the baby wont! When you're upto chapter whatever and the baby should(not)be...sleeping through, smiling burping sitting up rolling over etc etc then I can say with hindsight that baby wont be doing any of it. Good luck and go with the flow of things.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

yeah - babies have thier own ideas on how they should progress!!!! I wont go so far as to say chuck the baby books away.........they can reassure you if everything is normal and can be a good pointer to something 'not quite right'! I would have said the HV would be your best source of advice - but they seem to be taking 'Advanced Stupidity' as part of their training now - so, I recommend mums and grandmas! dont forget they have brought you up and they didnt do such a bad job did they?0

I had a baby in June, and i would suggest a steam steriliser if you are both formula feeding, so much better than a cold water steriliser, and it saves your hands from falling apart too.
Make sure you have a special present for Mummy when she gets home from the Hospital with the baby, smellies, her favorite magazine, a new pair of PJ's. (make sure the house is tidy, and the washing up has been done LOL!) It will be much appreciated.
Don't expect to have to attend to your Newborn constantly, they sleep an awful lot when you first get them home, wake to be fed, then sleep again LOL!
Baby sleeping bags are brilliant, and they will prefer to live in sleepsuits rather than wear grown up clothes made for little people.0 -

Hi i have just had a little boy and like you all my friends kids have grown up. i found it much cheaper to buy bundles on e bay of vests and sleepsuits and hardly bought anything brand new. we got our cot second hand and bought a new mattress also we opted for a travel cot in our room instead of the moses basket route it has a newborn bassinet in it which was great because i had a c section. i would def recommend getting as much as you can second hand as they grow out of it so quickly. The only book we had was the pregnancy bible (very handy for telling you the facts) and the baby bible. Good luck x0
