giff gaff/O2 advice please?
Options
I want to buy a new smartphone, but I want to keep using giffgaff. I know I can get an unlocked phone from carphone warehouse, but what I wondered is does anyone know if I get a phone from the o2 shop, will it work with giffgaff as they are the same company?
One more question - I like the Samsung Galaxy Ace phone but it is locked to 3 - does that mean you can get it unlocked from one of those places on the high street, or is it really locked into 3?
Hope that makes sense - I am pretty clueless in these matters lol.
Thank you.

I don't think that you'll get a better deal in a shop than you can find in the internet.
Ace is available for £122+10 from e2save (am not sure if this is available via a cashback site, but worth checking). It's PAYG on O2, but almost definitely unlocked.
However, you can consider Vivacity from T-mobile for £100+£10 with £40 TCB casback (can be unlocked for free, but you may need some help):
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3724&idPhone2=4347 (processor is the same apparently: Browse devices based on this microprocessor)
T-mobile Vivacity for £109.99 + TCB £40.40, 6 months free internet, £20 free apps. Potentially £69.59!!!0 -
Phones locked to Tesco network, will also work with Giff Gaff/O2.0

Are you sure? I think a tesco/giffgaff sim will work in an O2 phone, not vice versa.
Agree with grumbler, If it's O2 Locked it should work with Tesco Mobile & GiffGaff but not the other way around.
Tesco seem to lock the handsets just to Tesco Mobile, even though they use the O2 Network.David

My OH iphone 4 still locked to Tesco, definitely works with a giff gaff sim.
I presumed this would be the same for all Tesco phones.0 -
