I haven't had any more alcohol free days this week yet. I'm stocking up on orange juice, which I am currently drinking now, in an effort to improve. The last two days I had a lot. A bottle of wine Tuesday plus a beer, and 6 bottles of beer yesterday, and I felt sluggish, and didn't get anything done.

Since I cut back, I'd been getting loads done, and the past two days have made me realise how whenever I get stressed I think "stuff it, I'm going to have a drink" with the full intention of downing x amount of units. Its abuse, and a way of hiding from responsibilities, and life. I don't want to feel like that again.

I've got lots to do today, so will get on with them. Have a nice day everyone. :)

  • No more AF for me to declare - went out for dinner so shared a bottle of wine, then a couple of beers after

Was suprised that the house wine was actually a litre, so drank more than I would have normally

Will aim to be AF today, will no doubt be in bed by 8 as had a late night

Right, disaster of a holiday over, back to complete mayhem and chaos. Work didn't leave me alone to chill out neither did life. Did manage not to drink vast amounts but did have a drink every day so climbing back on the wagon to help with the get fit and lose weight before that impending sense of festival overload.

Another not so good day. I am going to try and have an alcohol free day tomorrow, even if I have to keep logging onto here in order to do so.

Well I watched it and :-

    • Oh my - in the A&E dept - when the doctor talked about the sample of 1000 patients who had an average intake of 200 units per week and the outliers on 700 units per week, I had to rewind because I thought I'd misheard. 200 units per week is 20 bottles of wine - 700 units is 70 bottles - 10 bottles a day! "and" how can anyone afford to spend that sort of money?

At his worst my DH was drinking a case of 12 bottles of beer a night and a whole bottle of red wine. He had a budget of £500 for petrol and beer and quite often exceeded it which is one of the reasons I'm on MSE site!

At the end of June he had to just stop drinking full stop, it just couldn't carry on. So he's now 2 1/2 months in and the positives include:

    Sleeping better
Able to achieve so much more on hobbies etc when awake
Has lost nearly 2 stone in weight
    Less gassy
    Doesn't snore anymore

It hasn't been easy but I'm really hoping that there's no going back. Good luck to everyone who posts on this thread.
