Yes please, put me down for the School Night challenge. I do not want to put a figure, as that will put me off, but I want to have an af day today, and see how I go from there if possible. Its been a while, but since I've been drinking less, and taking herbal remedies, am enjoying my home life again.

    Morning :hello:

Went to the pub Friday - had my usual 2 glasses of white wine. OH bought a bottle of wine on the way home and I had 1 more glass. We finished the rest of the bottle Saturday evening- I had 1 large glass and then it was back on the wagon last night.... :D

Oh and I've lost another 1Lb :j making 9 in total.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Luckily for me, my work now requires me to go back to work at 9pm and then I'm on call all night - the elderly gentleman I look after relies on me totally, even to the point of feeding him through a feeding tube, so there's little space in my life to mess up. Friday night I came home from work at 11pm - like the idiot I am I eyed up the quarter bottle of whisky on the side - OH had drunk the rest. I thought about it but left it there. So pleased I did because I was called back to my old man who was up for 5 hours through the night.
That shows strength of wills and control, I bet its really hard to cut back when your continually faced with it. :j

And so I keep battling on - I think possibly I continue to find it hard as my OH is still drinking. One day I hope he'll find the strength to stop. Maybe he will eventually follow your example.

TD - I am proud, keep walking and keep talking... you are a beautiful person. I have total faith in you. Its really nice that you can support each other online and RL.

I just wanted to comment on your post, couldn't just read and run.

    Well to update first:-

Shaggy i'm now on 9 days please
Mari - please can you put me down for the SNC - fully monty too. Thanks both of you.

I had a lovely weekend despite DH being a pain in the rear end. We still haven't had our chat to sort out stuff, he has postponed it 3 times, but we are on track for tonight, no excuses, tiredness or not. I am ready and waiting its been 11 weeks now.

My Mum and I took the kids to a castle near us yesterday, it was hot, sunny and we had a lovely day. It was great to have some adult company and for the kids to not have to share me, my mum and the kids adore each other and she loves to treat them too. She stayed for dinner and then came back this morning to come with us to school. My youngest finally started this morning and she was so excited to be with her brother. She knew exactly what to do when the bell went and didn't want me to go in, didn't even look back. Still that is better than me peeling her off me. So my pre school days are over!

I have been AF for 9 days now each day is a PB for me and i've previously in 5 years never gone past 4 days at a time and they were few and far between. Usually it was the odd day here and there.

I have noticed the pains I had before have eased off, my sleep isnt better yet plus I am eating more sweet stuff and chocolate. However I can afford it, I have a few pounds to gain, so its ok for now. I did have a craving for a drink last night as Mum was with me. We used to drink a lot together, but she gave up 18 months ago as she was drinking too heavily and it was affecting her liver. Luckily its all reversed so thats good to know. I think drinking can run in families, especially if you are exposed to it and it seems the norm.

Its hard to not have a drink if everyone else around you is and you enjoy it. I said to Mum,
"I fancied a drink when we got in, a cuppa isn't quite the same"
"So did I you must have been reading my thoughts".

We decided it was old habits surfacing and we didn't sway, not having anything in the house helped, although Mum did offer to go out to buy something. But I declined, I wanted a clear head for the kids and for No2's first day. I am glad now.

Right best go on, wish me luck for tonight with DH. Its gonna be a tricky evening I reckon.

Well in my trye usual style when im away from the board it means im not AF so other than tonite, ive not been AF in Sept. So its a measly 1 AF please Shaggy but its 1 more than it was yesterday so its a start.
good luck to everyone on your personal challenges this week/month. My challenge is to get to Fri or even sat without any vino, will take it a day at a time

Hello again, I've been reading everyones posts, and its great to see them as encouraging.

1 af day for me. The first in a long while. I had a bar of chocolate instead when my energy levels got low. Think I will stock up on healthier snacks. I'm trying to lose weight by cutting back, not put on a stone. :rotfl:
  • First up *Mari* - 5 for the SNC please
shaggydoo - 8 for Sep so far

Well, what can I say? How the mighty are fallen? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Saturday night was a night of having perhaps a wee bit more than was required. Let's leave it at that and not forget the miserable hangover that inevitably followed

Still, on the upside it did mean that Sunday was AF :D (as will be today)

CuppaTea, I think you are right about alcohol problems running in the family. CrazyMum and I were discussing the very same thing a while ago. Especially when it's been around all the while we were growing up.

And I'm glad you enjoy my ramblings. I do try to be a glass-half-full (of AF of course!) kind of person.

Well, here we all go for this week. One step at a time...
    :):) Good luck everyone :):)
