    It does work, only used it to test a lampholder yesterday.

    Thanks to everyone for all your help. I have had someone fit it for moneysaving fee of £20. The taped wired was actually the live wire. Electrician tested the others and they were not just like my neon light screw tester did.
    Valuable lesson learned. How that was taped and the lights were working for four years is beyond me.
    For lack knowledge my people perish.;)
