It would be useful to have a clearer picture of all the wires coming out of the wall.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

That's unusual - only two reds and an earth wire out of each cable?
Which wires are inside the tape? It is difficult to see from the picture?
Also, do you have an electrical tester or multimeter? If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
Inside the tape is another red wire.In effect there are two red wires each from the grey cables. However each grey cable has been connected to the green cable.

Please distinguish between cables and wires as others have said. It becomes confusing otherwise.
A cable can contain many cores or wires. The grey cables appears to have two red and one earth wire each, correct?
In your picture, I can only see one wire taped up?If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
I know and I thank you all for your patience. I see two wires both red from each of the grey cables. Then there are two wires coming out of the green cable which have one connected to each grey cable.

Was there another wire inside with the taped up one? Or is there just one red wire in there.
The two bare wires coming out from the grey cable are earth wires and have been sleeved (green) and connected to the back box. For safety, you should run a short earth wire from the terminal where the two wires join on the back box to the earth terminal on the switch back-plate.
Do you have any electrical testers or a multimeter? If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0
