Hi,
I am trying to replace a two way push dimmer switch with a new one because the old one just decides to work when it so desires. I followed how the old one was wired and have had no joy.
I am therefore pleading for help from here. I have been on youtube but have not found anything close.
Many thanks.
Best of the season to you all.

Are the terminals on both switches marked:
Com
L1
L2
If so you can't go wrong!
But you have so the new one may be faulty?0 -
Yes they are. How do I connect them please.May be following your advice will help rather than the diagram. Just something of note ;there is a brown wire that was conncted to both terminals but not from the switch wiring.

I've got dimmer switches fitted in a couple of rooms and was worried that we'll not be able to use them at some point in the future. I read somewhere that the new 'low energy' type bulbs weren't suited and wouldn't work on a dimmer.
Glad i stocked up on the old bulbs.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I have 3 red cables.
Are you saying you have 3 grey cables entering the box, with each containing a red and bare earth (which should be sleeved green/yellow)? If that's the case it's an unusual wiring method for 2W lighting.
What about the brown wire you mentioned earlier?0 -
Apologies, 3 red wires, it should be. How do I upload pictures please? Have a photo now.You can have God without religion!0

The brown wire is not conected to the switch box at all it was used to connect the two terminals.
Thanks for your help and patience. You can have God without religion!0 -
