I think I did a bit of an oops!
I re-calculated my NSD's and I only have 2/12 so far, not the 3 that I was claiming.
Oh well, got a few days of Jan left to get the rest done!

Am I the only one that is finding all this saving money very time consuming? I am doing alot more cooking which is taking time, keeping on top of my budget is taking a while too, and I am making bits and bobs for the house instead of buying. Where do the seriously thrifty find the time to do it all?! I am hoping it will start to get easier

It does take time, and more importantly I think - organisation. But just think, all the time you're spending NOT spending needs filling somehow :D

Mr A shop for me (need to check HH food budget before I can potentially decalre NSD) but best womble I've had in AGES, 26  receipts, so far £15 across 6, 7 to check tomorrow, one Mr T receipt and 12 with nothing (one was a prev £8 APG someone had used, would have loved that one :D) Keeping a tally this year of my womble value - will be an interesting one.

NSD 6 for me I'm beginning to think I've been too ambitious. I allowed myself 1 spend day a week. I forgot the car needed its MOT I forgot that when we go out on a Saturday that is also a spend day. 25 will be hard to achieve. Will keep plodding on though.

We're not very good at this NSD business, although saying that I think we've managed 4 so far in Jan.
We're not counting DD or SO as a spend, but everything else is, so if we need shopping or petrol then that's a spend. Even buying a stamp is a spend - is this the right sort of thing?

    Hi BlushingRose:hello:
Well I think 4 is pretty good considering you're new to the challenge so don't beat yourself up there at all.

Regarding your rules, it really is up to you what spends you decide to target. For me, I count everytime I hand over money (c.card, d.card or cash) as a spend, but don't class DDs as a spend as they're already budgeted for. I had a terrible Tatco habit before I started this, was in there most days "for a few bits":o. This challenge has put paid to that and my finances are in much better shape because of it.

A lot of people on here wouldn't include a necessary spend as a spend so if you needed a stamp to post something urgent (like a cheque for a tax bill for example:eek:) then that would be OK.

Have a look at the post If puts up at the top of each page, that gives BigMummaF's thoughts on NSDs and there's another post from her a few pages back giving some more thoughts to a newbie.

    Hope this helps

    Hi oldtractor
I don't want you getting disheartened so if you'd like to reduce your target for this month just let me know and I'll do that for you.

NSD #3 on Friday. None for the weekend - went ice skating yesterday and had to pay rugby subs today so I also took out money for the week and downloaded the CD I wanted that was on Amazon's 3.99 deal of the week. Will hopefully have a good start to the week tomorrow - forgetting to take my wallet to work helped a lot last week so I might continue with that tactic!
No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.
    Target for 2018 = 7/21
No more buying DVDs ? 2018 target 27/52
