    Morning everyone.

Think I'm going to have to bow out of this challenge for now, I am failing miserably at it :( I just can't seem to get a grip on my eating and things, I feel like I'm letting myself down and don't really belong on this thread at the moment :(

Slowlyfading - I've felt like this for a few weeks, but I've found lurking to stay in touch has helped. Now I'm back to say I've gained 2lb since the start of the challenge, but for most of the time I have managed to STS - I think seeing how everyone else is going stopped me giving up completely.

3 weeks left of this challenge... newbies if you want to join in with the weigh ins but leave the challenge for next time that's fine, but we do take late entries if you want ;)

A late returner rather than a late entry :o So glad we've still three weeks to go - perhaps I can get back to where I started, or a wee bit better, by then.

I will start a new challenge after this one, to run from the end of this one until the end of September, but that will be my last.
I start an OU degree in October

Snap! I'm starting OU in October too. Really looking forward to it. Watched one of the induction videos where a current student said getting organised beforehand and finishing things you've been putting off (DIY etc) before starting is a good idea. Going to use this as an incentive and try to reach normal weight for my height (about 12 stone 6) before the course starts.

Very impressed with everyone's progress on here. :A

    Evening All

It's been my Sunday for looking after DGD so as usual I've had a lovely day.

    B: Milky coffee
L: Spinach and cheese omelette. Iced raspberry smoothie.
D: Chicken casserole with carrots and mushrooms. I did dumplings for everyone else but for the first time ever resisted them. Strawberries and cream.

Exercise: Walk to the shops and back this morning. Playing in the garden with DGD. 6 mile walk this evening.

I've just read 'Escape the Diet Trap' by Doctor John Briffa this weekend and it's got me all enthusiastic again so am going to give his ideas a good go. Basically it's concentrating on natural foods, avoiding processed stuff so very OS and low carb. I tend to eat that way quite a bit anyhow, often avoiding potatoes, rice, pasta etc so am really going to give it a good go and also make a concerted effort to completely rule out sugar for a month to see if I can lose my sweet tooth.

Just back from visiting DM, the M40 was busy but the M1 was a nightmare! Bleddy Sunday drivers :p

    B - spicy fruity porridge
D - some sort of pesto pasta thing, very odd, with a chunk of salmon on top. The pasta was rubbery, the pesto tasteless and the salmon anaemic. Next time we go there I'll have a salad!
T - will make myself some crackers with marmite in a mo
    S - melon
E - tidied DM's under sink cupboard, took her arm when we went out - both heavy tasks, believe me!

    Sleep tight :)

Busy weekend as DH was away with work leaving me with DS and DD to take swimming on Saturday morning and generally entertain. They are both quite tired and grumpy so in the end I decided to take them out and we had a good time exploring a lost Heligan - type garden up this way. (Got me 1.5 hours exercise as well!) Then we went to McD*****s and I'm pleased to report that I had a salad:) But not so pleased to report that I also had a medium chips and finished off their icecreams for them:(. Once they'd gone to bed, and after 2 glasses of wine, I'd rather not report much further, but lets say that it involved a few treat sized chocolate bars, cheese biscuits, crisps etc. First time I've had a full on binge for ages:o.
Today we've had a birthday party but after last night I turned down the biscuits in favour of a couple of quarters of cheese sandwich.

Today B - cereal, L - toast and marmite, small pork pie, D - chicken curry, rice and 1/4 naan bread (which I had to fight for!) + h/m strawberry icecream. Snacks - 2 quarter cheese sandwiches. E - walk with DS and DD for 40 mins this morning to pick elderflowers for cordial and possibly wine too.
    Mlarky.

S - melon, grapes, nectarine, pear
E - Booked in for 1/2 hour assessment at gym this morning. Step/weights/stretch this afternoon

    Have a sunny day :)

Funnily enough I am heading that way, aiming to cut out wheat and sugar as much as possible, drastically reducing carbs in the process as I feel the whole family is addicted to them, I have just finished reading The Meat Fix, will check out your book next... (found a write up about it which I have linked to)
Weaning my children off sugar will be the hardest thing, but DD is so addicted it;s scary, she shouts and screams for sweets/biscuits and gets really ratty - I am sure if we cut out the squash and junk she will balance out.
I am also going to favour animal fats over vegetable/soya oils. Much less processed and more nutritious. DH was over the moon when I bought lard and butter the other day!

It is very interesting when you start reading about things like wheat, soy, vegetable oil, it's kind of glaringly obvious that these are things we are not designed to eat as much of/at all but because they are cheap to produce and have made muti-billion dollar industries... look what's in everything!

Today's menu (notice I only post these when I am being good and smug, you don't see the cr*p I eat the rest of the time :o)

Breakfast - Scrambled eggs and bacon.
Lunch - Tinned peaches and yogurt, a very small piece of cheese.
Dinner - Sausage and veg bake
    Snacks - no idea yet...

Shredded again today and yesterday. Going well, I have recommended the workout.

Some interesting, challenging pieces on nutrition for those who want homework ;)

Good post ragz, and that website makes for some interesting reading.

I'm not weighing in this week as I'm going on holiday again, :j Spain this time, so I'll declare myself as STS for now.

    My menu today
B: 4 slices buttered toast (went a bit off the rails and feeling guilty now...:o)
L: Chicken and sweetcorn soup, 1 pack Walkers sunbites
D: Bacon and avocado salad (hopefully I'll debloat by bedtime)

Exercise: 1hr30 walking, triceps & biceps, shoulder & chest presses, press-ups
    :)

I can definitely recommend the Briffa book - it makes really interesting reading. I saw it mentioned the other day so downloaded it onto my Kindle and was quite fired up by it.

B: 2 boiled eggs mashed with salt, pepper and butter.
L: Prawn salad - with HG rocket, spinach and babybeetroot leaves, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, carrot, mushroom and pickled beetroot and French dressing. My last iced raspberry smoothie - so no more sugar now if possible.
D: Pork loin chop with cauliflower, broccoli and carrots in a creamy cheese sauce and mushrooms. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.

Exercise: 12K run/walk - in the ratio of 7:3 minutes respectively. Walk to work later.
