After having a day where work really got on my t*ts, I managed to declutter the big bar of chocolate left over from Christmas. :o

Had a productive day today, even though there's not been much decluttering going on, things have gone out of the house.

50 bags of coin to post office to change up
Posters advertising a fundraising event put up in shops and on notice boards
7 letters posted that had been lying around

Doesn't sound a lot but I had the money spread out all over the dining room table in various piles, and now that's all gone the table is clear!!! Yay!!!

It's going to take a while for my house to look ready for visitors but I'm getting there.

  • Bit late in getting started with this challenge, however I managed to get a good start today:

    1. Several DIY catologues to recycling
    2. Dried out felt pens belonging to DS in the bin
    3. Old jacket in the bin
    4. Chunky crayons no longer used gifted to a friend
    5. Loads of receipts shredded from junk drawer
    6. Made a start on clearing out old bills which was also shredded.

Also ordered new ink so I can print off labels for sending old books to amazon trade in, not sure how many books will go, hopefully quite a few!

Plan to clear out DS's bedroom cupboard of old toys tomorrow, so will report back tomorrow.

    Hi rosyq. welcome!
I know what you mean about keeping up.
I have a word document where I list my declutters. Then I just cut and paste onto here. I am enjoying looking back at how much I've cleared!

Keep meaning to ask, is that lovely cat on your avatar yours? :D

Haven't done a lot today, felt even more blah than yesterday. :o

9 20 books and cds listed on Zapp, just need to find a few more...
10 2 books ready to post to Amaz trade-in
11 books rejected by the above, in bag for CS

I'm on such a roll, thankyou all :j

I think I posted this in the old thread, but I have found the Zen habits website very inspirational. It explains a lot about consumerism and how clutter affects us and has lots of ideas about how to get started on de-cluttering. I aspire to be a minimalist but don't think I will ever get there.

My other advice is to watch 'Hoarders' or 'Hoarding: Buried Alive' on the Bio channel. You will have the bin bags out before the first commercial break.

Well not a very productive de-cluttering day due to a very early work start and it being a Friday which means I really make the effort to be with the children as I don't have business stuff to prepare for tomorrow. So we all watched (both episodes) Treasure Island which we recorded at New year and the children got very over excited and will probably never go to sleep now despite the very late bedtime.

Not a very productive day today, awful sleep pattern at the moment, need to go see Dr I think as I'm currently sleeping for up to 15 hours a day :(

Anyways I did manage to get rid of a bag of random craft things on Freegle

so takes me 3/4 of the way in the challenge :)
