PLUS all the stupid, nasty, vile letters that ex-OH sent me when we split up  . I'd kept them, at the time, as proof of the harassment that he was causing me but then gradually became used to them 'being around'. It was time for them to go - especially as we've been divorced for around 10yrs . Unfortunately, I made the big mistake of re-reading them as they were going into the shredder which only served to get me  all over again - so I had to just get rid and dump them into the garden waste bin once-and-for-all :T.
Good call on getting rid of them! You don't need those bad memories hanging around any longer than they have to. At least now you can never read them again!

I was clearing through some boxes in the garage last week and found some love letters from my university boyfriend. We really did love each other at the time but things ended on a sour note and that still makes me sad (even though I am now happily married to a wonderful man). I finally put those letters in the recycling bin because even though they contained nothing but positive messages they reminded me of the sad ending to that relationship.

Bet you're glad to have made a dent in all those payslips too! That is a LOT of paper to have hanging around all those years.

Here's to getting rid of very emotional clutter :j

I got rid of an xmas arrangement that a friend made. They let me down this year and so I thought I can't look at it without remembering that. Now gone :A

  • Morning all

Haven't posted for a while. What with Christmas and that not much decluttering has been taking place. Clothes horse was left out for freecycler on Wednesday and duly collected. Lilac paint will be collected from my workplace by another freecycler tomorrow afternoon. Sold a top and the iphone cover which I had been in two minds about as it was a gift on ebay but the money will come in very handy for my ipad fund. CS bag half filled with various bits - books, cooler bag etc. I am also actually using my oils in my burners instead of just having them sat in a cupboard.

I think I have done about 40% of the decluttering I want to but I think that will be it for the 2012 now unless I do the odd bit of slinging when I get a spare half hour or so of an evening. I will mainly be at boyfriend's/ mum's over the next couple of weeks so won't be able to do much.

I am dreading doing the loft. My summer clothes need a serious going through as well as various boxes of misc items. I also want to make a start on converting my cassettes to mp3 which will be a painstaking process to say the least. I thought I'd start with the singles. I also want to get the carpet cleaned as it is filthy. So great plans for January!

I was admitted to hospital yesterday with suspected post partum haemorrahging but luckily it turned out to be retained placenta that had got infected (Evelyn is 6 weeks) so they removed it and i came home last night. Im fine now, even took kids to soft play this morning lol

    then there's 25yrs of Bank Statements ...........................

I keep a years worth of bank statements.

However, I've got a small pile of exercise books, going back to the year of my marriage (1981), where I've detailed all the money going in and out of my current account.

I just CAN'T get rid of those exercise books !! They being back so many memories of what we've done over the years.

I still keep all my current account transactions in an exercise book, it's the easiest way for my to keep track of my finances.

The ironic thing is, from 1981 to 2009 I actually worked at the bank that holds my current account, so I could check the balance and transactions any time I liked!

Even though I've left, in these days of internet banking I've still got immediate access to my account, but the exercise book still works best for me.

    Merry Christmas Buffy

I hope there's going to be a 2013 de-cluttering thread, as I've still got the loft and the garage to de-clutter!
