Just did an ultra mad blitz in the (soon) to be Hobby room. Got rid of 20 things. Didn't list them, just counted. Included old pillows, pillowcases, books, toiletries, cosmetic cases, bag, hair things. Lots.
Will add that to my tally and do a CS run now as my car boot is fullDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

252. Keyring

CS shops were very grateful for the items :j
There's lots of bargains to be had in them. I saw the new JK Rowling book for £2. A designer top with tags on for £3.50.
I got a book on meditation (couldn't resist) for £1. So I'll have to out a book straight away to balance things out.

Suzeesu2000, I am really sorry to hear about your husband's cancer and his ruined immune system. My thoughs are with you both during this difficult time and I really hope that he start to feel a bit better soon.

Thanks Becky. I have always been in awe of him, he is quite an amazing man anyway, but to see how he has coped and is not letting it beat him....wow....he really is Superman :T, I am very lucky to have him. Generally he does pretty well but when he gets even the smallest virus or lurgi it knocks him for six.
Thanks for thoughts though. xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Hello declutterers,
mineallmine - yes, glad that my appointment is over with. This was completing my will which has been a very prolonged difficult and emotional task. I have deleted most of my "computer favorites" and shredded paperwork that assisted this. It seemed to represent "negativity". Maybe my other decluttering might be viewed differently now?
Anyway, the familiar habit of recycling, composting, recycling a dead battery, recycling bits of plastic found in the garden, sorting out garden seeds continues. Also, another task, trying to use up this years supermarket coupons for any free items. Using up food supplies slowly but adding essentials if suspected price increase.
So today, will tidy up everything and plan next weeks decluttering.0 -
Morning all,
Lovely sunny day here.
Didn't reach my target but done well. So I'm pleased that more stuff has gone. :j
Going to think about next declutter challenge. Fly lady is good at keeping things tidy, so I'm going to stick with that. As well as getting rid of stuff I need to make headway in rooms like the Hobby room (spare room!)
So some declutter mini/major challenges such as clear floor, sort desk, clear bed. And so on.
I wish I had more strength and energy to do this a bit quicker but hey ho they will be achievedDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Good morning all
Thank goodness the past few morning have been a bit warmer. Hope it's like that with everybody else as well.
Looks as though you've all been really 'getting stuck in' especially with Christmas fast approaching .................. - in the meantime, I'm still stuck in 'limbo-land' with no feedback from the Housing Association about the removal of the 'offending stairlift'. All hopes of being moved into the new flat before Christmas are now fast fading ..............
I'm left with all clothing (except 3 or 4 outfits) and all kitchen gadgetry (except very basic pans/frying pans/pyrex dishes/couple of plates/basic cutlery) completely packed away in sealed boxes - not much chance of me being 'glammed up' OR 'doing a Delia' over Christmas. The boxes are all around the house - living room / bay window / under the stairs / back of the dining room / boxroom - no decorations or tree are up because I didn't see the point in doing them!
Well done, Tiglath, and congratulations for keeping it going in the long term. It must be all too easy for us to 'make a good start' and then drop by the way-side when the momentum starts to wear off. Love your tale of your sister removing 'your stuff' from the driveway :rotfl:.
Oh dear, pjran - you've now got me wondering if I should be doing something about my 'Christmas Decs Collection'. I've had some of them around 20yrs (not 'ceiling-style stuff), but I do really look after them and the vast majority are still beautiful ................ - keep up the good work :T.
Congrats on aiming for between 10-20 flings a day, mineallmine - I'm looking forward to my life 'settling down' some time soon, so I can REALLY address [STRIKE]my[/STRIKE] our 'hoarding habits'.
Hi, Honeythief - I think if you're considering charity shops for your stuff because you don't want to make any money from them, and there's not enough of them round where you live, I'd definitely go down the Freegle/Freecycle route. Hope you've managed to say bye-bye to them by now.
Well done in dealing with your 'emotional clutter', dannie - I'm that you'll really feel the benefit from that with increased 'peace of mind'. I hadn't realised that it involved 'making your will' - daunting task for anybody, but something that we allvbneed to face-up to. In my pre-retirement job, I saw so many cases that involved the results of people not forward-planning ............. and it was very often heart-breaking for those left behind, who didn't have a clue.
Hope you manage to sell your stuff on Facebook/Ebay, happytails - I'm sure your kiddies weren't 'needing' even more stuff to play with. Most sensible thing to do with them - congrats on your other sales.
:j - hey decluttered hair, loopychriss - well done!
Good to hear that your OH is doing well, suzeesu. I know what you mean about needing freezer space - they do give you freedom from shopping when things are chaotic in your home. I had 2f/f's + small chest/f at one time - and there's only 2 of us. DD moved house and needed a f/f, so I gave her one of them as she's got three children. My sister is also a fan of freezer space. She has f/f in kitchen, plus tall freezer with shelves and small chest/f in shed - there's only her, OH and mum in their house!
:T well done on gifting your unopened toiletries to the 'open-door shelter', Becky - I'm sure they will be much appreciated. I hope the recipients will have the facilities there to be able to take a shower etc while they're there. I presume that will be catering provisions taking place for them as well - great cause :A.
I've accomoplished some more sorting out - and more boxes packed up. Going to tackle some present wrapping, IF I can find the rest of them :rotfl: - I've now lost track of what I've bought and who for!
Just hoping that 'somebody from Housing Association' gets in touch tomorrow - even if it's only to let me know when the lift will be removed.
speak again later and good luck with the decluttering everybody - Lilyplonk xxx0 -
Hope you get your new home sorted before xmas Lilyplonk. Can you visit the Housing Association in person? Sending kick up the bum vibes to the HA :j

Hi all
Today I have managed to sort through my pile of paperwork in the cupboard and managed to shred / file etc so the pile is now at least 50% smaller. The pages from 2 IT handbooks have gone in the recycling bin. Also sorted through our pile of takeaway leaflets most of them are now in the recycling bin.
Lilyplonk, hope you hear from your housing association tomorrow.
Good luck with your decluttering next week.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0 -
Couldn't get on the site last night; did anyone else have trouble? I kept getting a 'bad gateway' message. So I have 2 days' worth to list:
103. Old shower curtain - bin
104. Old receipts shredded
105. Plastic pot without a lid - bin
106. Mirror with large wooden surround - charity shop
107. Plastic box with hinged lid - charity shop
108. Box file - charity shop
109. Plastic crate with lid - charity shop
110. Paper plates used at parents' anniversary party today
111. Serviettes as above
112. Balloons as above
113. Floating candle set given to sister - she asked me to buy her some raffle tickets at the coffee morning on 21st Nov, and this was her prize.
114. Couple more greetings cards written and delivered
Had a buffet lunch party for mum and dad at a local pub, so been out most of the day. Have brought back loads of leftover food which is temporarily stored in our fridge until we can eat it! Still, I don't count that as clutter as it will get eaten/frozen.
Not got granddaughter tonight or tomorrow as she's not been well and has a rash - possible chicken pox - so might take the opportunity of an unexpected free day to get my finger out and get the Christmas pressies wrapped.Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
