Yes, that is a good idea that I will use for any large items that don't fit in our car. We don't live on a busy road but if I put a sign on the nearest busy road people might drive round to our street in pursuit of free things ;)

Our table and chairs are haunting me. I bought a really good quality dining set from Oxfam about 8 years ago, but the chairs are all falling apart (my dad glued them again but I think they need professional help) and the table is lovely but the wrong shape for our dining nook so it takes up more space than it should. The whole set is showing its age and plenty of wear and tear. I know I need to get rid of the lot and buy something more suitable, but I also fear nobody else would see the top quality product I know this table to be. It'll probably end up in somebody's fireplace :(

Logically I know this dining set had many years of life before I rescued it from a charity shop, and I shouldn't feel guilty about getting rid of it, but I do. The table sheltered me from several major earthquakes (I live in Christchurch, New Zealand) as things fell down all around me in the kitchen and living room, and I feel like I owe it something. Thinking about getting rid of it is emotionally very difficult.

Nothing decluttered today except i returned a pair of trousers to Gap, was a christmas present for my mum i decided against.

But we got 3 books from toddler group as presents (1 each per child) and 1 won 2 fisherprice toys from a competition i entered here months ago, they arrived by FedEx today, popped them straight up for sale on Facebook as we have plenty and they arent things i would have picked anyway! So hoping to earn something off those :T

Sold 3 items (1 quite big too) on Ebay so going to post those and 2 other parcels tomorrow :)

  • In spite of my good intentions, all I managed to declutter today was:

    99. A load of my grey hair (went to walk-in hairdresser on spur of the moment and had my hair cut)
    100. A plastic sieve that I don't need - charity shop
    101. A tupperware container that I emptied out yesterday - charity shop
    102. Some bubblewrap given to a friend who is moving in January

I really am going to 'get around to it' tomorrow and have a sort out. I'm not planning to go out anywhere, I need to sort Christmas presents etc. and tidy up the stuff that's been lying around for a week or so. (I am ashamed to admit that I only put away the bottles, tins and jars from last week's shopping this morning!! They were in bags in the garage, out of the way, so I just left them there!). Now all put on shelves [STRIKE]tidily [/STRIKE]tidy-ish.

Good luck to everyone over the weekend.... I seem to have reached my target without even really trying this month!!!

Thanks, he is getting on well. Firmly believe decluttering clears both the air and the mind! And I am definitely in the "hippy-chick" gang :rotfl:

We have our next hurdle early January but once we have cleared that one we shall focus on a couple of months of life instead of doctors, hospitals and being prodded - especially when they use them nasty knitting needles with sharp ends!

Haven't done much this week apart from cough, did do half my Xmas shop and is all put away. Plan is, last shop booked for Friday next week and then nothing more until all three freezers empty. Yes, :o I have three, two are fridge freezers and one is a small chest freezer. Sounds bad, but with me not able to get out and hubby being icky, been a Godsend to store bread and stuff. Costing a fortune in electricity though so we have got to cut back.

Well done all. You're all doing fab, keep it going. x

Thanks Becky, he would normally not be too bad but the cancer - or actually the treatment - has ruined his immune system so it is really hard for him to bounce back. He will get there though :)

Suzeesu2000, I am really sorry to hear about your husband's cancer and his ruined immune system. My thoughs are with you both during this difficult time and I really hope that he start to feel a bit better soon.

  • Morning all. Last day of my challenge today. So lets see how close to it I can get.

You'll find a good home for that table & chairs honeythief. Do you have Freegle, Freecycle, Gumtree that sort of thing over there? Or could you put up a sign on a noticeboard at work or something? :j

The sun is out here and looks lovely :)

Mineallmine, good luck with your decluttering today.

I am taking it easy today but have managed to use up a roll of Christmas wrapping paper, all Christmas presents are now wrapped up.

Later today I will write our UK Christmas cards, hopefully at least 2 boxes will be used up. For every year that goes by, we seem to write less and less Christmas cards.

I have managed to get into a good routine with sorting out our post every weekend, it's doesn't take that long when you do it frequently. In the past I have spent an hour or 2 sorting out the post pile.

I have also put together a shoe box of some unloved shower gels, shampoos and conditioners together with some unused tooth brushes that will never be used after I started to use an electrical tooth brush. I have also put in there loads of samples of foundations etc that I have collected from various magazines (don't know why I kept it in the first place I don't even use foundations) together with hot chocolate & coffee sachets. Next week I will give the shoe box to a local charity around the corner from where I work since they will be doing a 4 day open door shelter. I have never done anything like this before but it feels really nice to do something like this and to know that the people who are receiving it will appreciate it more than I will do.

    Have a nice weekend everone.
