I think I might be getting obsessed with decluttering.

I had a decluttering dream last night.

In my dream I was clearing out the cupboard under the stairs and found a stash of figurines which I didn't know that I had and then sold them for large sums of money on eBay!

    Maybe I'm overdoing the decluttering!

    Hello everybody,

Thanks for the "good luck" Lilyplonk regarding venturing out. This was by bicycle so have to be very cautious, or abandon the idea this time of the year. Anyway, the shoes did get put in the shoe bank that particular day.

Apart from that, still the usual recycling, rubbish and composting. Also using up cardboard and plastic/glass containers. Sunday was a big tidy up day again. One broken plastic kitchen item has been recycled. A large supply of bird food keeps being put out in the garden and have managed to collect some garden seeds. Still more to do but might leave them to drop themselves.

Pending today are gathering all the saved scrap metal to sell and maybe will package/send some Xmas items.

    Good Luck.

    Hello!

I've been MIA doing stuff as part of this challenge https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4328971 (Sort 7 financial things in 7 days) so I've done very little decluttering. Plus we were exhausted after the 21 cardboard box-gate affair on Saturday!

Will be firmly placing declutter hat back on.

    164. Old shirt, its too short, not flattering so off to the cs
    165. Used up toiletry (Bach)
    166. A claim form that's been knocking about, completed and will be sent off today
167.168.169. Used up dishwasher cleaners (acquired quite a stash but sorting the kitchen put them all together) and Mr Muscle sink unblocker to sort the DW out which decides around this time to stop pumping water in. It's some float thing that needs to be reset and then needs to drink lashings of Mr Muscle sink unblocker _pale_ (bottles recycled)
    170. Bunch of paperwork to be burnt
    171. Lots of packets of that horrid silica(sp?) gel
    172.173. Toiletries (moisturisers) used up
    174.175.176.177. Books. (Cs)

Catch up on the thread and with everyone later :j

Have had a ouple of really lazy days... did manage to write and post half a dozen Christmas cards, but spent today looking after and entertaining our granddaughter. She's nearly 2 and no problem but it just means that I can't do anything else while she's around.

Tomorrow have got a coffee morning to go to, I've wrapped up 50 odd tombola prizes, so at least they will be out of the house, along with the cellophane I wrapped them up in. Will count them tomorrow.

Going to make a real effort this week to get the house back to 'fit for viewing' standard; if the estate agent phoned at the moment to book a viewing I'd have to put them off for a few days while I got over the panic attack I'd be having!!!

Glad to hear everyone else is doing so well, keep at it everyone, we'll get there in the end!!!
Book to hold an open house day then you have to tidy it by a set date.

    Hello folks

lol at your dream, Goldiegirl - I know the 'nightmare scenario' very well indeed. The other night I was being overpowered by 'house moving boxes' - in a similar way to the 'pink elephants sequence' from Dumbo !

Well done on making it back home again safely, dannie :T - wow even saving scrap metal. Now that's true dedication wtg girl!

Hi wilf - nice to meet you. Great decluttering going on in your place - well done you :j.

Congrats on sorting your financial stuff, mineallmine - and good luck with your claim form :). Hope you manage to get that DW sorted out.

Have sorted through another bookcase in our bedroom today - quite a few for cs as soon as I can get there

Opened OH's wardrobe to find that he'd got a mountain of 'his book collection' stashed in there. Good to hear him finally admit that he's been [STRIKE]collecting[/STRIKE] hoarding books. These are mostly very large books on various iconic bands - Queen - Beatles - Stones - U2 - Led Zep - Radiohead - Who - and many more and also lots of concert programmes. Along with lots of great books on Scotland, Lake District, Peak District, various sports etc. He's agreed to dispose of 'some of them' but wants to sell them  - heaven alone knows how long that will take. He's agreed that some others can be dumped and I've actually got them advertised on Freegle as I'm sure somebody can sell them somewhere - and I think I've overloaded our local charity shops at the moment. If we had a vehicle, I'd arrange to take them to our City Centre Oxfam Shop where they have lots of space for all these kind of books and the cause would benefit.

Just having a coffee break and then back upstairs to make a start on MY Wardrobe packing away - I've already had a dumping/clearing out attack in it :D.

speak again later - carry on the good work peeps :rotfl: - Lilyplonk xx

Lilyplonk if you ring your favourite charity in nearest big town, they usually offer a collection service for big stuff/heavy stuff/loads of stuff! My lovely RSPCA regularly collect from my house and it's always at least a huge box of bric a brac. Some charity shops will also collect donated furniture or, if it's good enough, ring your local council who usually have a link to somewhere that supplies the needy at very low cost, they will also collect free of charge.

  • I've had a bit of a break from decluttering (I've been in New York!) but I'm planning on getting stuck back into it again now. Not done much today, but three books have joined the charity shop pile. And I sold one yesterday. It all helps!

I wanted to have one when it first went on the market, but the estate agent said they only have those as a last resort! Well, it's been 6 months now that it's been on the market and I am getting fed up with waiting, so might consider it in the New Year. We're going to decorate the hall over Christmas, get the yukky woodchip off and put some decent paper on instead!

Today I had 53 outs in the way of tombola prizes; when I left the coffee morning at 1 o'clock there were only 15 left, which I am sure would have gone by the time the schoolchildren popped in after school. So I've got a lot of space under the spare bed now.

Not much else has gone really. Hubby tidied up the lounge and put all the Christmas decoration boxes back upstairs, so that's looking nice and tidy and cosy now. Also sorted out the grandchildren's toybox, and found a wooden walker with bricks in that they don't play with now, so that will go when I next go to town.

    24-76 Tombola prizes gone forever!
    77. Wooden walker with bricks - going to charity shop
    78. Pack of 4 forgotten pork chops found in boot of car. Probably been there for over 2 weeks so going to bin them tomorrow. Look OK but probably advisable not to eat them!

Got most of the day in tomorrow so might tackle the garage food store if it's not too chilly out there. If it is, I'll tackle the Christmas cards and maybe my fabric stashes....

I'm determined to get it done by Christmas.... watch this space!
