I have been lurking recently but working hard on decluttering and def making in-roads. Just wondering though, what is an ideal amount of clothes / bag shoes etc to have.
I have finally hit the point of doing all our laundry every weekend in its entirety and have started to realise I have a tendency just to wear the same things.
How much space do you have for your clothes and to what extent are you decluttering them? ......

Whatever doesn't fit, flatter or make my heart sing is on its way out:D
However, a couple of garments may have to hang around till I have replacements.
What's the proportion of things you wear compared to the contents of your entire wardrobe? And what's stopping you wearing the rest?‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Where do I start? I have clutter everywhere. I don't throw anything away as I am trying to get myself out of debt and I might be able to sell it. The debt is going down but the clutter is not. I would like to sell as much as possible and put the money I make into home improvements as I have so many things that need to be fixed. Really would like to sort my house out by May as my daughter is expecting and would like her to come to mine as much as possible, please help0

What's the proportion of things you wear compared to the contents of your entire wardrobe? And what's stopping you wearing the rest?
About 12 months ago maybe the 20/80 rule. I guess I wore 20% of my wardrobe 80% of the time. I did make two big steps forward, one was storing away out of season clothes and the other moving to all wood hangers. As they are bulkier you can't pack as much in and they make everything look more appealing. I had a major blitz and prob got rid of a third of everything that currently fit me.
So now I think I wear all of it at some time or another (what is actually in my wardrobe, still have a couple of boxes of 'too small' clothes that are classic styles in the loft that are really fab and I don't want to cull (down from about eight boxes twelve months ago, I ebayed a lot and donated the rest).
However, it is the 'do I really love it' kind of thing now. Like I have two long line grey cardigans, always tend to wear one.... so should I just donate the other? I wore it loads until six months or so ago and like it but it is just more worn than my newer one. I guess now I have done the sheer overload part of decluttering I want to start making my wardrobe work for me. Why do I find it hard to let things go now because they do actually fit in my wardrobe?

I have clutter everywhere, and while I'm not in debt, I also try to sell everything and anything before it leaves the house! I think if you do want to do things that way, you need to be organised! Currently, I have two huge plastic storage boxes with all my ebay stuff in, and have a shelf in the living room for books and dvds that are listed on Amazon. The worst thing you can do is sell something and then realise you have absolutely no idea where it is. It has happened to me! Another thing you'll have to be ok with is that it will take you much longer to clear the clutter. I'm sure if I just packed all the excess stuff up and donated it to the charity shop, my flat would look amazing. But I can't really afford to do that, I'd rather get a couple of quid back on something.
So what I would do first is find somewhere or something you can store ebay/amazon/etc stuff in and fill it. Once you have some space in there, put some more in. That's what works for me. I also tend to chuck things out/put them in a bag for the charity shop as I sort. Hope that helpsYou can do it! If I can, anyone can!

Not a bad weekend for me - went through a couple of bookshelves yesterday and got rid of about 10 books to the charity shop bag, and have sold about 30 items on ebay. Also used up two bottles of perfume.
You lot are an inspiration0 -
Lucy_lemon that is such good advice. I keep my ebay stuff in boxes in the garage so it is altogether and doesn't get mixed back into stuff in the house.
One thing I would also echo is you have to be prepared to live with stuff for longer as selling takes time. My way, was to recycle (ideally) or bin anything broken, stained or generally had it and donate anything low value / bulky but in good condition as there is something to be said for appreciating that your time is valuable too!
I do ebay a fair bit and it does really add up! :j
