Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Managed to dispose of a few things over the weekend:
20. 46 soft toys in a prize-every-time tombola
21. 4 tier plastic shelf unit - freegled
22. Remainder of a roll of cellophane (used to wrap soft toys)
23. Catalogue addressed to daughter - who left home 7 years ago! - given to her when she came today
Have finally put all the 'stuff' away in the emergency bags, so they are ready now, apart from a few bits and pieces that I still have to buy. At least I can get in the little bedroom now and it is tidy again.
Tomorrow should be a better day, we're intending to do lots of errands and tie up loose ends, get rid of all the recycling etc. Then I can concentrate on getting the house clean and tidy for Thursday's viewers....Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I was so happy during the week that I was doing quite well with my decluttering. But this weekend we went to our caravan to close it up for the winter.
I brought home all the food (don't have room for it all in my cupboards), bedding, tvs etc. so now my house looks untidy again
I have all the sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, matress protectors, towels as well as all our usual laundry to get washed, dried and stored away. I've bought some of those storage bags that you suck the air out of, so hopefully they'll reduce the space needed for storage.
I got rid of a load of take-away menus, news papers and magazines. I also gave my mum a coat I don't wear anymore. I also dumped a laundry basket that has seen better days.
I have a hospital appointment in the morning and DD has a paediatricians appointment in the afternoon. So I probably won't manage more that my everyday stuff tomorrow0 -
Hello, I've been away a while, but........
17 -19 3 bags of gibble from around house
20-26 unwanted toys from DD's room
27 bag of clothes for charity
28 old pair of trainers
Not sure I'll get to a hundred in the next ten days but I am motivated so it's an improvement to what I was doing, thanks all xx0 -

Hello all, been decluttering a bit as and when we can. Have not been on top of it enough to count, so am going to guestimate here then update if I get a chance.
Today OH and I went through our wardrobes:
* Me - 7 pairs of tights - 2 to charity, 5 for recycling.
* Me - 3 cardigans to charity, had nothing they went with even after taking them shopping the other day.
* OH - 1 coat to charity, 1 for ebay
* OH - 7 shirts to charity
* OH - 1 pair of shoes to charity
* OH - 4 no-longer-white t-shirts for recycling- should I make rags with these?
* OH - 1 t-shirt to charity
Also went through DDs bedside drawers and got rid of a bag full of toot I need to breakdown a bit further, and have 9 books and a child's toy suitcase for forthcoming St John Ambulance sale.
We got DD a kindle for her birthday so have been able to get her to clear some books from her shelves as we can download the classics for free.
2 cds sold on Amazon this week, and a book to post tomorrow.
So going to count at about 45, although know there is lots more that has gone and have forgotten about!
Tomorrow plan to bag up stuff for charity and take it on way to singing class with DS, as well as posting book.
p.s. wow silentsister, you have even more books than me by the sounds of it!
and kraftykat let me know if your bags work. I bought some from lakeland but after one use the seal didn't work. Got them replaced and they still don't work. Going to give up with them I thinkMortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Museumworker, in my humble experience, it matters where you get the bags from. I bought some from QVC many many moons ago which were fine but left a funny smell on fabrics and then split, then bought some from a cheapie place which just split, the ones I have now came from Ace catalogue and were very reasonably priced. They have been used and used and are still perfect. They also have the screw on valve closer which is really good. I use them loads as I have zero places to store bedding etc.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

I desparately need to declutter. We had some building work done December 2010 and we had the door taken off our study to make it more open plan and to give a bigger turning circle for DD's wheelchair & on the condition that the room was kept tidy. 14 months later and it is still in need of decluttering. Unfortunately it is next to the bathroom and lounge so anyone that comes into the house can see. On top of that I would like to be able to see the floor of our bedroom, shut the wardrobe door and store clothes/shoes in the bottom of the wardrobe rather than other clutter.
Every time someone comes to visit i clear all the paperwork off the table into a carrier bag. Every time I do this I promise myself that I will not let this happen again!!! & guess what it happens again.
I also promised myself that I every night I would tidy up everything that I'd got out that day & put away things after I'd finished using them - ha ha failed on that also.
What about all the birthday cards DD (13) & DS (15) have ever received do I really need to keep them & if I di for what reason.
Then there are all the school work /paintings they have ever done. Will they ever be looked at again?
I need advice please what do other people do?
Hi Everyone
The above was originally posted by me in February this year and nothing much has changed. I have been reading people's posts on this site over the last couple of weeks, but decided it's time for serious action!!! It's now 2 years since the door was taken off the study and it still isn't tidy. We had our bedroom recarpeted and a new bed earlier in the year and it was all very tidy and i said it was going to stay that way. Has it? not likely.
Receipts what do people do with old receipts i jsu collect mine in piles Why??? I do think i should write down what we spend our money on, but then don't do it every day, then it seems a chore.
Help I need to get back on the wagon, i think I've fallen off big time

Hello Jarus, welcome back! You have climbed back onto the wagon by coming back in and posting.
Think poor old hubby has broken his wrist again so that's not helping! :mad: goodness I sound so sympathetic :rotfl: I am, really I am:rotfl:
Am surrounded by wet washing :mad: too damp to put outside and we can't afford the tumble dryer. So now have laundry waiting to be washed too - no point making more wet until first load is dry :mad:
I am being a Moaning Myrtle today :rotfl: normal me will be resumed shortly!
