So am now watching obsessive compulsive hoarder featuring Richard Wallace who some of you have mentioned re de-Richarding! I had heard of him before but I hadnt seen the programme....

    So I confess - I am a messy creature occasionally but I am definitely not a hoarder!:D

Its scary stuff.......... And I do feel sorry for the neighbours...

I agree very scary......what did he say ? A 'fine line between a collector and a hoarder'?? I hope its a big chasm really and something went wrong in his life somewhere to get to that level of hoarding........otherwise I may well be doomed. When the psychologist said 'he has to say its rubbish' I thought O-oh I need to start looking at things and not saying that they are useful:eek: but I am no where near the level he was at with tunnels and towers of stuff in his house, I have to say:) I felt very sorry for him though but by the end there seemed to be a bit of a change and some of the locals were a bit more sympathetic rather than condemning...loved his birthday cake BTW but how sad he said he could never remember having a birthday party.

More flinging today - totals by 31st:)

I had a busy start to the week, decided to declutter the cupboard of doom. Well it was so full of rubbish. I got 5 bin bags out of it, it was piled right to the top of the cupboard but now it has a storage unit in it with very little on it! We took the stuff straight to the tip, the 5 bin bags from there, 4 bin bags of old rag clothes etc, all the basket type shelves from the old freezer (no idea why she kept these) and lots of cardboard and some other bits. The car was absolutely full! Glad to see the back of it.

I had some excellent news this week that I have a full time job starting 6th August but am going to keep up with the decluttering when I have the time and energy and have put on my eBay listings that I can only post Saturday mornings. We've booked a holiday for this weekend to celebrate and will be thundering on with decluttering next week for another epic tip trip on the Friday.

Well done on the tackling the cupboard of doom and congratulations on the new job!

I've recorded the 'Obsessive-Compulsive Hoarding' TV programme and have still to watch it.I saw the first one about him,it was quite shocking.

I hope you haven't thrown them away - I'm sure they would still be edible :) x

    Morning All

Yes Lillian I did, really didn't fancy eating anything sooooo old.

You're all doing so well, I need to hang my head in shame. I did manage to throw away all my old Laura Ashley catalogues yesterday. It's amazing how much fabric has gone up  at the book shelf doesn't look as though it will collapse now. Might try to clear some more shelves over the weekend.

I think we're all sounding quite weary:
    21 books to recycling
    1 area decluttered
1 strange bottle-type thing to bin

    ETA Confession time:
I have just ordered 2 second-hand books, one of which I've wanted for a long time, and the other will replace about a dozen books still on the shelves. :o

I don't think decluttering things you don't want means you can't buy things you do want :):)

Well, my cupboard of doom consisted mostly of empty boxes and picture frames so:

    118-9: 2 broken cat toys - bin
    120: mobile - cs
    121-132: 12 empty cardboard boxes - recycling
133-136: 2 fake guns/2 instruments - drama group props store
    137-8: 2 picture frames - bin
    139: Wii packaging - recycling
    140-168: 29 picture frames - cs

Now to vacuum all the cobwebs and spiders away and put my veg rack in there :T

Thanks rumblytum, and at least I have room for them now :)

I think you've done really well in your cupboard of doom (a great name) - and you can look at the space where the veg rack was. Why do we all keep boxes and packaging - just in case !!

We're on the home straight now!!

    93. fruit 'on the turn' - in the bin
    94. folding chair and cushions - for use in the shop
    95. bag of old clothes - for rags
    96. bag of decent clothes - to the CS
    97. 'gold' medal - for use in shop display
    98. red, white & blue cord (from chocolate medal) - to CS for display
    99. unwanted spiral keychain keyrings - to CS
    100. crate out for reuse by fruit & veg company

Target achieved :D and I've got stuff ready to go out the door tomorrow, which I'll list once it's gone.

Well done and keep going vibes to all :T

Sorted out two drawers today: 4 clothing items, one book and a pair of very dead sandals to recycle.

    You're doing OK luxor4t :p

Are you fluent welsh? I know where Abertawe is but I had to google the rest in your signature and it ties in with your post!! Pls don't worry I'm not a weirdo or a stalker :o my sis lives in south wales with her welsh family & I've tried to learn a bit as even the toddlers speak a combination of welsh and english & I've found it hard to understand what they are saying to their daft english auntie (actually that's probably what they are saying)
