Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

I haven't posted on this thread for some time but I enjoy reading this thread. Today we have had a productive day mainly because we are having visitors staying next weekend. I went through our old mail that has made the sideboard in the hallway looking cluttered, it's lovely to see it looking neat and tidy again. The guest bedroom has been tidied up. I also went through our old bills and shredded the bills from previous addresses. Old instruction leaflets from products that we no longer have are now in the recycling bin. Last weekend we tidied up the garden and the garden waste bin is now full and ready for the garden waste collection on Monday.
The next project will be to sell books on Zapper. OH has got over 300 books and has finally agreed to go through his books so that some of them could be sold. I never thought that he would agree to do to that so I am well pleased. This week I will also try to sell a pair of snowboarding trousers that a friend gave me a few years ago. I feel we have achieved a lot today.
Good luck to you all with this decluttering challenge. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Don't feel like I had a good day today
We have two valuers coming round this week and the house has never looked tidier (maybe I should book one monthly to keep on top of things?!)
I'm just not confident of getting that magic figure. Plus looked for houses in the area we want and saw nothing of interest (or for the right price) so I am feeling rather glum, been mardy with hubbie and indulged in some carp TV to make myself happy.
On a plus point:
22 - Dead poinsetia (sp?) from ChristmasBin
Conservatory tomorrow - need to track down the spider I saw in there the other day which OH assures me is "only a small one". I'll go in with my full body armour then just in case it goes for the throat. :rotfl:How long til pay day?
March Grocery Challenge - £69.54 / £3000 -
We've been shopping and have lots of ins now. Jolly good bargains though which will lead to more outs. 1 pair of shoes for DH, he will get rid of some other shoes to replace. I have got some new work shoes so will get rid of my old uncomfortable ones. DD has got 2 new pairs of shoes. Both sandals and leather but one pair is a full shoe type and the other are footbed kind of flip flop types. She can get rid of some of her old uncomfy ones. DS has got a new pair of trainers so his old ones can go out now. Got some plants too but they are not counted. Still neutral then. Hoping for no rain so we can do planting in the morning. Need to sort out strawberries into pots. I can then get rid of some smashed pots.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Going to declutter a croissant and some coffee then I will be up and at it - bit of a spring in my step today
I think the spring in my step just sprung because when I had done all the 'must do's' I had lost heart in doing anything elseMust try harder today. Have a friend coming round later so a quick Fly lady type tidy ditching things on the way me thinks

Today I am having a big tidy, the box under the bed for ebay is getting full so will get to listing some of that hopefully. Going to use the rest of the ink on my printer and maybe see if my mum wants it as hers doesn't work and then set up the new printer. Am also doing a spreadsheet of ebay sales so I can work out what I have made after fees and postage etc. And do some comping. Had a few sales so hopefully they will pay today so I can post tomorrow.
Worked out the profit from my brothers sales, just under £90!! He will be very happy with that!0 -
Just found a double duvet in the depths of the spare room. No idea where it came from, but it's going in the boot of the car to give to one of my families in work. Also a box of books to go out to zapper on Monday, and a load more ebay stuff ending tonight. Most of it doesn't look like it'll sell, so that can go in the charity bag too.0

I've done nothing today. Will get loads more listed this week and got an item to post tomorrow, depends if others pay but 4 items sold at the moment but only 1 paid for. Got lots ending Tuesday and Wednesday no bidders at the moment just watchers.0

Brilliant idea! So glad I've found this post today. I've already started by putting a lot of things on ebay! I had a major clearout of my wardrobe and got rid of a lot of stuff!
I have lots of books and cds to sell. Which is better, music magpie or Zapper? I haven't used either before, so I'm not sure how it works.0
