Why does decluttering cause soo much mess?:(

Tidied the lounge on Saturday and it was sparkling, but after ebaying yesterday (and still only managing to list 13 items) and trying to sort out filing and old paperwork this morning it looks worse then it did before I tidied on Saturday:mad:.

Have sorted out three draws and two box files and have a huge bag of shredding to go to recycling centre, but nothing actually out yet:eek:.

Right cup of tea and then back to it:(.

I have got rid of 60 items from the pencil box. I also sharpened all of them in the end as I decided to declutter a Poirot from the sky+ box!
So totals thus far; February totals 107/100
I'm happy with progress although it might be cheating somewhat counting each and every pencil and felt tip. But it is all stuff which is leaving this house so I'm happy with that!
I also have 1 carrier bag of general rubbish to put into the main bin which I will only count as 1 item.
I'm actually still here in my pj's and dressing gown, mainly because it's warmer than clothes!
Unfortunately; my portfolio and all the other paperwork gubbins is sitting winking at me in the corner of the lounge still. Bleurgh- I have to get it sorted really.

Can I just ask; What would you all do with your Diploma certificates from finishing Uni? Mine is still in the envelope I received it in and I have no idea what to do with it.

When we had just graduated we had them up in frames on the wall. Now I just keep them in my fireproof box with passport, driving licence etc.

Hi Kaz, I have scanned mine in and backed them up using the Mozyhome backup system (ie offsite in case), then put the originals in a file with my cv in case an employer ever asks to see them.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Have a lovely afternoon angelavdavis

Good afternoon, everyone seems to be doing really well.

I have just sat down for a breather. So far today I have done 3 loads of washing, sanded and undercoated a sideboard after emptying it. Washed 3 bathroom storage boxes and sorted the contents - half a carrier bag of rubbish plus making lunch and making an appointment at Doctors.

Still got energy left so after my cup of tea I'll be back to it. Just love halfterm.

  • Only a little today but every little helps ;)

    15) OH's old broken laptop case binned
    16) rubbish and broken pens from said case binned
    17) dd's old toothbrush binned

Have got 4 things on freecycle so waiting on replies and have sold 7 lots on eBay last night so hopefully will post them tomorrow so my list will groooow :rotfl:
  • Took more bags to the charity shop this morning. I've started another bag and also sorted out some things for my mother to raffle.

    1 skirt
    1 pair of jogging bottoms
    outdoor candle
    lidded pot
    pair of earrings
    4 ramekins
    1 mug
assorted small children's toys (counted as one)
    1 book
    assorted hotel toiletries
    2 soap sets
    unworn slippers
    votive candle
    oversized pen
    scented hand gel

    139/100 ditched in February

In the past, guilt has stopped me from getting rid of things - guilt at all the wasted money. Now I think of everything I take to the charity shop as a financial donation. I think that's helping.
  • Roughly 20 more items listed on eBay. I currently have 80 items listed  and so many more to be listed. Probably the same again, up to 25 items sold. Hoping more will sell!! I'm exhausted and ill so off to sleep to be well for tomorrow.
