Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Well done to all who reached their targets :j
I've decluttered an enormous portion of toad-in-the-hole this evening, so I'm too full to do any more :rotfl:

Have been lurking on this forum since the beginning of the year and finally plucked up the courage to do this! A little about myself first.
I am 23 and just recently moved back into my parents house. Have been working full time but hours have been reduced due to quiet period. This is giving me time to sort out my Carp! I am in the smallest room in the house and can barely move because of my stuff! Some is still in the original boxes from moving out of my parents.
So was hoping I could join this Challenge and Ditch 100 in Feb! Have already made a start and sent 22 items of clothing to the charity shop.

welcome PD21 (although I'm a relative newbie to this thread too - everyone is very friendly)
oh, nomi01, that is very impressive, come and help me get sorted now:rotfl:
Well, having only cleared 52 items in jan I've got off to a good start in Feb (well, its good for me, I'm well known in our family for not getting rid of stuff)
1-2 2 empty jewellery cases (bin)
3 tatty old gift bag - recycled
4 junk mail - recycled
5 cardboard box - recycled
6 very grotty (and smelly) old wax jacket - bin0 -
Hi
Can I join too? Am a bit obsessed recently with decluttering. My January list would have been awesome! I won't include my mums things (she having her kitchen rebuilt so here a lot for meals and stays over a couple of times a week) but I do keep sending things home with her.
So here goes:
1 boxed bumbo infant seat (eB..)
2-3 pump bottles half used but not for months on bathroom sill (bin)
4-6 toddler girl clothes grown out of (cs)
I have cleared my garage last week including selling a treadmill and exercise bike so have made loads of space, you can even see the floor!
Love it!Bossymoo

I've had a good photo and paper shredding session (again) as I want to continue decluttering. I've been reading minimalist blogs and some people want to keep 100 things while we are struggling to get rid of 100 things!
I couldn't become a minimalist (Could I, could you?)" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Right, I've got some more; 2 underwear sets bought from Avon last year. They don't fit, have shrunk in the wash and the wires have popped out. I like the pants but never wear non matching sets so it can all go. Car insurance renewal letter- renewed by phone this morning so it can go. more parcels and postage envelopes used to send them. More bits of general toot.
I'm working an extra shift tonight so probably won't manage to get anything done tomorrow as I'll be hanging. I am eyeing up some beautiful linen bedding on thebay at the moment. It would be wonderful if I was able to get myself a full set of linen bedding so I am just watching it. DH wasn't overly happy about not eating for the next couple of months in order for me to buy some bedding so I'll have to be a bit more inventive. Perhaps I'll stick it on my Christmas list.
What do you guys reckon? I'm almost 34 and I am working on building up a dinner service and some nice bedding. I'm also trying to get decent pillows throughout the house. I've been lucky in that I started buying a bottom drawer so to speak when I got my first job and then bought something householdy every pay packet afterwards. This meant that I had most things I needed when DH and I moved in together (I'd been sharing with friends previously). I've never minded getting household items as gifts because often that was the only way I could have got some things (Dyson for my 21st etc).
I think that I just like to think one day I'll have a home like one from country living. Unfortunately, at the moment, my lovely silver napkin rings are still sitting on the table from last nights tea and are now hidden by piles of clean laundry
.
Anyway, I digress. 10 items out for me today.

Help me! I am confused as I have messed up an ebay sale!
I was selling some old DVDs on there and then posted them to the customers. I then get a message from 1 person saying that I have sent them a different DVD to the one they bought, can they return it and get the other one. So I contact the other customer and ask them to tell me if they have received the DVD and that I have probably sent them the wrong one (as the 1st person has not got theirs) I wait for their reply. In the meantime the 1st person starts a dispute case on ebay about it. (I was waiting until the 2nd person had confirmed what they received before I acted.)
I email the 1st person today to ask them to send the wrong disc back. Now the 2nd person has left me positive feedback and is happy! But they can't have got the right disc because the 1st person has it!
I was all prepared to just get both sent back and lose out on the 4 sets of postage money, but now this positve feedback has really thrown me. I am waiting on the 2nd person to reply to my 2nd email to check that the box and disc are correct. However if they are happy, then it appears that I have magically got 2 copies of one film and lost one other!
Also I am going away next week to my parents for a week, so worried in case I can't sort it out before I go away.0 -
That sounds like an awkward situation beadgirl, don't know what to suggest if your 2nd seller is happy with their dvd that might be the wrong one! I guess the only thing you can do is refund the 1st buyer upon return of the dvd.
Just a quick update for me, well my girls really. DD1 has taken the challenge to heart and has sorted through yet more of her bits and is writing a numbered list so we can see how many things we get rid of this month. I'm not going to list each thing as we're now up to 45!
Items include Barbie accessories, little figures and figurines, small broken toys, baby doll hat, used up medicine bottle washed out and recycled, My Little Pony etc. Both DDs are still off school (over the sickness, but still within 48 hours of last sick episode so has to stay off) so we may increase this total today, although we do need to do a small shop (why does DD2 feel the need to eat like a pig when off for a few days??)
