Changed from AOL to BT and not happy

I personally could never do with BT's usage allowance of 10gb, I'd burn through that in less than a day easily.

What BT implied (I believe) to the user, is that their broadband "access" was unlimited (because broadband is an always on connection). The user may have interpreted this as bandwidth being unlimited.

Anyway, 10gb is doable for low usage and very light youtube usage, however I'd recommend installing a program called "Networx", it monitors all active LAN connections for all users and allows you to see at a glance your daily, weekly, monthly bandwidth usage on a per user basis. Useful if you need to keep the numbers down. I used it when I was on mobile broadband (1gb per month)

Either that or upgrade to 40gb

If you watch youtube quite heavily, I suggest choosing the option for low speed connection in your youtube profile. This will default you to 240p when watching their videos so they're not always in HD, this should help save you some bandwidth.

As I type this email since 27/12/11 I have used 7.92gb and I watch Youtube a lot (almost daily) (at 720p)

I'm guessing if you watch 720p in youtube every day, then you'd use maybe 1gb per day if you watched around 60 mins of video.

You don't say, but I'm assuming you use some type of router? You may not use the wireless part, but is it actually turned off/disabled?

A quick update.
I installed Networx as a comparison to BTs monitor.
It's early days, but so far BT are showing me using very slightly less than Networx reports. As it's a very slight difference, I'm happy so far that BT are accurate for me at least.
I'll continue monitoring for a while just in case.
