I'm not trying to blame the cashier, all i know is that i was £20 short, it was in no way my fault and the cashier did put money back in the drawer after weighing it a few times. The scales could need recalibrating or something.
I just thought that if i was going to put it in writing i would need the name of the person that served me, just like you would when complaining about any service you would receive from anywhere else.
They did use bundles, £500 came out of the drawer and it was all on and off the scales a few times before cash was taken off and put back in the drawer.
I totally agree £20 isn't worth anyone's job, i just cant let this go, after all its money i have earned.
I am glad you got the money, it's a good result! Of course it's something I wouldn't just accept either.
Just to clear up any confusion though, with my point about the bundles i was not being pedantic but whether one of the bundles were £20 short could actually be more feasable. These are counted and double checked on the scales but could be £20 short and the tills would still balance.0 -
I would recommend you always insist the cashier always counts the cash in front of you going forward.
In my hay day of being a bank cashier we always counted the money in front of the customer.
Its great the issue has been resolved for you though :TIm an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
So pleased that this has been sorted for you, I bet you will make sure that they count it out to you in future.Slimming World at target0

Hi All
When i use to collect wages i got £20 less on more than one instance
When reported was told i had to wait till the end of the day till tills were counted up and always got my money
Once i got a £1000 too much and when i reported it i was told they would have to wait till they counted up the tills they confirmed and collected it the next day!
Banks?
Happy New Year0 -
If you're deemed a 'good' customer it's likely they've given you the benefit of any doubt as it's not worth the bank wasting more time on it.0

They may give it to you as a goodwill gesture if you pursue it, it seems unlikely anything new would turn up from the safe I would have thought.
You're a bit late!I called into the branch earlier and was told that the person who was dealing with it was on lunch, i got a call a few minutes ago telling me that £20 had been credited to my account, no details were given weather the safe was short or not but i got the money back, that's the main thing.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -

I always count any cash from the bank now, even if it is a bit of a faff. I only go into a bank every few weeks to withdraw anything, but in the last year i've had:
- shortchanged by a 10 or 20p on a couple of occasions (from supposedly sealed bags of £5 etc)
- one time a 10p coin bag had a foreign coin instead of a real 10p piece in it (again, i didn't know that could happen as I thought their weigh machines knew the exact weight of British coins?)
- the last time I went in November, I asked for change in pound coins and ended up getting £22 in a £20 transaction - surely their machine should have spotted that!!
Glad to hear the OP got his cash back.0
