I, on the other hand, don't start my scoffing abstemiousness aim for Jolly Jape January until the 8th because it's OH's 70th on the 6th, and we're having a bit of a party for him on the 7th. After that I'm with you, but in the meantime these are what I'm going with:- five fruit and veg a day
- lights out by 11.30pm
- make 100 sales cold calls by 31.1.17
- One random act of kindness or public service a day
- record something lovely that happens every day so that at the end of the year when I empty the jar I'll remember all the good things that happened
- after 7th January cut out sugar until 1st February.
Your OH's birthday is the day after mine, although a different year. I will raise my small glass to him
I'm intriqued to hear your random acts of kindness/public service. Good one.good targets maybe i can think of some.......LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Quite a lot but taking advantage of my optimistic mood at the moment!. I'm another one that's shocking for going to bed without taking make-up off. Why is that so HARD???

Update for today and it's pretty impressive, like you'd expect for Day One!
- Money. No spending at all and just a small amount of petrol used. My YNAB doesn't balance, but I suspect it's due to all the bank holidays and Mr H forgetting to tell me he's used his card again. I hope it sorts itself out on Wednesday.
- Healthy eating - Home-made smoothie with apple juice and frozen fruit. Macaroni cheese with Tesco mash and half a huge red pepper. Apple crumble and custard. Tomato soup and two slices of bread. Fresh orange juice. Cheese and biscuits. Small glass of red wine. Three after eight mints. Hmm, that's two sweet treats but I think the healthy apple neutralises the crumble, yes?
- Deal with today's admin - it's Sunday, none came in.
- Catch up with backlog of paperwork - yep, done one outstanding item.
- Phone or visit parents Rang them, all is well.
- Keep house tidy By my standards, it's not too bad

Thank you for rounding up the rah rahs Dolphin! Saves me having to go hunting when they're needed, so you've already carried out a random act of kindness. Much appreciated as it saved me time.Update for today and it's pretty impressive, like you'd expect for Day One!

See how useful your RAK was, Dolphin? Marvellous.Better is good enough.0 -
- Five fruit and veg a day: Grapefruit, avocado on toast, veggie curry with cucumber raita, tangerine.
- Lights out by 11.30pm Tick, instant payback. Awake by 5.45.
- Make 100 sales cold calls by 31.1.17 Must do the research for this, although it's too early to be making the calls themselves *phew*
- One random act of kindness or public service a day Wrote two letters that I didn't need to write, but knew doing so would be a good thing to do. I'm trying to convince myself that only counts as one RAK but I know at some point in the month I'm going to snurgle the second letter in on a day that I don't do something.
- Record something lovely that happens every day so that at the end of the year when I empty the jar I'll remember all the good things that happened Tick. Hmm, though, because I had to think hard about what had happened that qualified as Lovely, as opposed to experiencing a perfectly happy day all day which was surprising.
- After 7th January cut out sugar until 1st February. Off the hook on this one which explains the vast amount of chocolate I scoffed. Finishing it up, you understand.

Goodness, I'm always late to the party aren't I? Not even because of hangovers - just general busy-ness. NYE was nice, spent at home with the family, home made tapas, wine, board games and family game on the consoles, then a glass or two of fizz watching Robbie Williams and then the fireworks on TV.
So I started 2017 with good intentions but have managed to drink wine, eat cake, cheese and even a couple of pieces of fudge so far. That's not good is it? Perhaps New Year can start properly for me when the boys go back to school later this week...or next week. Or I can just cut myself some slack and try to do better. I actually managed to lose 5lbs over December so I can't have been that bad. Still have about another stone or more to go - will see how it looks when I get the next half stone off, and keep going accordingly.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Happy New Year, Happy!
Glad to heaar things are going well and you're getting your mojo back. I'm sure this is teaching my granny to suck eggs but, given how much you've paid off, have you checked for any balance transfer offers lately? There's usually some deals at this time of year.
I'm impressed by all your targets. I'll need to come up with some and join you. I like the sound of Joyful January. Our interest rates are good at the moment - £4K is on 4.9% life of balance and the other £16K is on 0% until October. I've got everything crossed that there's another 0% offer on when it ends or we'll be stuffed. Always good to have a reminder though and thanks for the thought. Looking forward to hearing your targets if you come up with some - personally I struggled to keep it down to eight
