:hello: HappyNow! Hope you enjoyed your holiday!

    Update for yesterday...

    1) To have 12 NCDs - Rubbish eaten so still on 10 NCDs for June.
    2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - Just under 5,000 steps again so I missed my target for the week by 759 steps. A total of 69,241 giving me an average of 9,891 per day. I'm still pleased with that though :). New week starts today.
    3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends - Light out at 11.50pm . Why do I do it to myself?

:hello: Dolphin! (and of course Honey and Joey and anyone else who happens past).

I'm back. We actually got back on Saturday but I've had mad toothache so I've been sulking in bed until I saw the dentist today. Turns out it's not an abscess as I'd feared, just a cracked tooth, so hopefully it's all repaired now.

Holiday was lovely and quite frugal. Lots of free sunbathing on the roof terrace, and meals were mainly salad, bread and cheese. We ate out a few times but kept it cheap.

Mr H has signed back on again for JSA (he had to sign off while we were out of the country) but it will be a couple of weeks before he gets any more money. We're not panicking though - I have squirrelled away £2500 of redundancy money to tide us over until he gets a job so we can dip into that, then when he finds work the balance will go straight off the debt.

Our 19 year old cat was struggling to walk so had to have a vet appointment costing £47, which included a bottle of Metacam. It's made a huge difference so he'll be on that for the rest of his life, which will doubtless cost a fortune. He's worth it though. I remember in the early days of my diary having to take him to the vet because I'd accidentally run him over and thought he was a goner. Four or so years later he's still going strong!

Dolphin - you are my hero! Well done on the NCD target, which you will obviously now manage, plus the stepping and the early nights. Hope you are seeing results again?

Joey - Hope you are fully recovered now, and managing plenty of sleep.

Honey - hope you are having a lovely time at the chalet and Kelpie is better.

How lovely to hear from you Happy - Dolphin has kept the home fires burning, watered the plants and generally kept everything ticking over. Glad to hear that you had a lovely holiday - I'm rather jealous as the weather here as definitely taken a turn for the worse along with the general mood of the country - hopefully both will pick up again soon.
Dental pain is the most miserable thing - and I speak as one with a history and a future of dental intervention (car hit me when I was young - hairline fractures in all my teeth, wires in parts of my jaw so there's always something needing attention). The relief when it is sorted is nothing short of euphoric. Glad you got it sorted.

    I'm back.

    Yay, welcome back :j!

We actually got back on Saturday but I've had mad toothache so I've been sulking in bed until I saw the dentist today. Turns out it's not an abscess as I'd feared, just a cracked tooth, so hopefully it's all repaired now.

Ouch! Glad it wasn't an abscess but it sounds like it was just as bad, glad you have got it sorted.

Holiday was lovely and quite frugal. Lots of free sunbathing on the roof terrace, and meals were mainly salad, bread and cheese. We ate out a few times but kept it cheap.

Sounds lovely and I bet you are glad you had it booked now as I suspect both you and Mr HappyNow needed the break.

Mr H has signed back on again for JSA (he had to sign off while we were out of the country) but it will be a couple of weeks before he gets any more money. Poor Mr HappyNow having to sign on for JSA. I had to do it for a few months a few years ago and going to the job centre was just so demoralising and depressing. Not having to go in there again was a huge incentive for finding a job.

Our 19 year old cat was struggling to walk so had to have a vet appointment costing £47, which included a bottle of Metacam. I remember the car incident, it must have been just after you first started your diary. He has done very well to get to 19, I hope he manages to enjoy life as much as he can for a bit longer yet.

Dolphin - you are my hero! Well done on the NCD target, which you will obviously now manage, plus the stepping and the early nights. Hope you are seeing results again?

Why, thank you :A! No results on the scales if that's what you are referring to :o although I am managing to maintain my weight loss so that's a positive. Next month, I think I will need to increase the NCDs if anyone else is up for targets for July?

Joey - Hope you are fully recovered now, and managing plenty of sleep.

    Ditto!

Honey - hope you are having a lovely time at the chalet and Kelpie is better.

    Ditto!

I'll be back later with my update for yesterday!

Wow, that sounds really nasty and an absolute nuisance. I know what you mean about the relief. When I had an abscess once, I was in agony for 48 hours and the relief when they numbed it and pulled the tooth out (it couldn't be saved :() was amazing. I didn't care what they had to do to get rid of the pain.

 back atcher, as they say.

Healing vibes for the tooth. I'm absolutely terrified of dentists, so I feel your emotional pain, but not your nerve pain, obs.

Holiday was lovely and quite frugal. Lots of free sunbathing on the roof terrace, and meals were mainly salad, bread and cheese. We ate out a few times but kept it cheap.

Heaven. I hope the holiday worked some magic on you both and did you a power of good.

How are the DIY repairs at the Happy Homestead progressing now that Mr H has all this lovely time to fix things? Or does he spend his time reading the racing tips and catching up on the horses on TV? I start every day knowing exactly what needs doing and then somehow finding time to do things like tidying my pincushion while the dust bunnies breed and all of my projects moulder in untidy heaps on the floor.

Our 19 year old cat was struggling to walk so had to have a vet appointment costing £47, which included a bottle of Metacam. Marvellous news. Diddly, my elderly ginger lady was on anti-inflamatorys after the problem that dogged her for years was finally diagnosed it gave her a completely new lease of life.

Honey - hope you are having a lovely time at the chalet and Kelpie is better.

Thank you kindly. Kelpie loves it over there, but only if it means he can have very long walks on the south west coastal path. If he's restricted to the tiny garden he gets a bit stir-crazy and misses out on the company of everyone else in the house, so after a week we came back last night. We've restricted him to the sitting room and once I've got the (totally useless) universal car dog guard in place at the bottom of the stairs he'll have the run of the ground floor.

I managed to lose 3lbs in one week over there, so it just goes to show how much junk I eat at home, doesn't it?
    Better is good enough.

I was catching up on internet reading last night, and realised your paid off debt figures are looking absolutely marvellous, Happy, despite everything that's been thrown at you. I know there's still a way to go, but what you've achieved is astonishing and I wanted to congratulate you on your successful hard work. *admiration*

I hope having the company of Joey, Dolphin and I has helped jolly you along the way. I think it's rather nifty that when one of us drops out for whatever reason another one takes over, a bit like how birds fly in formation, honking at the leader from the rear while benefitting from the slipstream, if that makes sense. (You have a cute rear, as the Americans say, from where I'm positioned in the formation.)
    Better is good enough.

Welcome back Honey Bear, it's sooo nice to have everyone home :j. If it hadn't been for the lovely joeyjimbles popping by for the last week, I would have been very lonely. 3lbs off in a week sounds fantastic. Well done you for resisting the junk while you were away :T

    Update for yesterday...

    1) To have 12 NCDs - Chocolate eaten so still on 11 NCDs for June with only 2 days to go .
    2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - Just under 12,000 steps :j.
    3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends - Light out at 10.50pm but only thanks to OH who decided to have an early night. Still, it really helped me to catch up on my sleep.
