Android HTC vs Samsung

As a previous HTC Android (eclair) use I'm looking at buying the HTC Sensation or Samsung Galaxy S2. Their virtually the same price but I really can't tell much between them.

I'm told the Samsung has a superior battery, screen, little hardware things but how do they differ when your actually using the phone?

To me HTC seems to be the leader in making Android fun to use and the Galaxy S2 seems a bit rigid and boring.

Outside of the hardware which is the superior Android phone??

HTC have got a bad reputation recently for terrible repair services if anything goes wrong.
  • I'm sure there will be lots of comments on here disagreeing with me. But, having moved from the HTC Desire to the SG2, I wish I'd gone for the Sensation.

Don't get me wrong, the SG2 is a fantastic phone, but for me personally I preferred the interface on the HTC.

As for grumblers comment on the service from HTC, I never had any issues with my Desire, so didn't have to use HTC's customer service, so can't make any comparisons here.

I used to charge my Desire every night, my SG2 needs charging probably every 1 to 2 days, depending on what I am doing.
Closing an app and switching back to the main screen does not happen as quickly as I expected.

Camera is fantastic, sound is much better than Desire.

As both phones are pretty much alike, as most posters have said on here, it's really down to what you personally prefer.

Oh one thing that is great, is the memory, I can download every app that I want to and not faff around with move apps to the sd card.

    Hey...

I've got an HTC at the moment, but when I upgrade shortly and I'll be choosing a Samsung Note if that helps.

IMO, the Samsung Galaxy S2 is better that the the HTC Sensation, and Sensation XE.

Samsung currently have better phones - it's as simple as that.

    HTH,

    Mark.
  • I was asking myself the same question a few days ago about these phones and I decided to go for the samsing galaxy s2 as everything I have read about it shows that it is better than the HTC. Can't wait to get it next week!

Totally agree, it's what you prefer.

My hubby, before I gave him my Desire, had a Samsung, and he had no end of problems with Kies, whereas I had no problems at all with the Desire software.

I prefer the sense interface, plus the sensation will be getting ice cream sundae 'officially' in February..
even though its already been leaked over at xda.. also as I like to tinker with my phones, the sensation
had a massive community of developers behind it, many of the ones from the desire have moved on to
    the sensation.

Sense feels and looks better than touchwiz, HTC phones have better build quaility, they feel sturdy,
unlike Samsung which I think feel have too much plastic.

But its all down to what you personally prefer, I'm just used to the sense interface as Ive had a desire for
nearly 2 years, if or when I do upgrade it will be to another HTC, the whole package is, imo much better.

My first smaertphone was the Desire, brilliant bit of kit then the Desire HD but after a play with the Galaxy S II i was hooked. Now though i pack a Note, personal choice though as i was looking at a tablet but still wanted a phone and the Note does both for me.
  • If I remember rightly, the sensation has its power button awkwardly placed at the top, and then requires you to use it to unlock the phone. Might be a small thing, but it would annoy the hell out of me. I have the galaxy s2 myself, and whilst I'd quite like to have all four of the android buttons, the one hardware (non-touch) button in the middle makes up for it by lighting up the screen. I also think that samsung did a better job isolating the camera from the outside world. The glass covering it isn't part of a piece you remove to change a battery, memory card or sim, so isn't going to fill with fluff.
But if you like the sense ui, you may just want to ignore me and get that nice shiny sensation xe. Hell, I was pretty temtped by the htc offerings, too.

Some HTC users do not like anything but Sense on their phone .
