  • Well done on making the first steps :D x

*subscribes* will keep reading :) x
  • I think if I didn't give myself a little treat, be it a take away or something every once in a while I would be miserable. This journey is going to be a long one and if I didn't do this, I think I would fall off the wagon :o

I don't cook anything exciting, but do try to stay away from processed food. I have to say though Tescos do a lasagne that feeds 4 for £3.95 it is very nice - I don't think I could make it for that much
    Just keep swimming!
  • £200 paid to Big Barclaycard today, they haven't added the interest for the month on yet but I guess that will about £125 so net reduction of £75.

£67.61 off the Baby Barclaycard, allowing £10 for interest so £57.61 net reduction. That was more than I wanted to pay but its my own fault for not figuring out how the Barclaycard payments thing on their site works. Just hope they dont try and take another £178 in January

    Big Barclaycard: £7,846.44
    Baby Barclaycard (was Egg): £865.38
    Flat Management Fees: £1,125
    Overdraft 1: £1,500
Overdraft 2: £500 (hopefully be a lot less this month)
First Direct Loan: £1,161.12 (due to finish 2012)

    Total: £12,997.94

Some payments also came out of the bank from before Christmas today that I had forgotten about :(:o -means I'll probably be pushing the OD limits this month again.
As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again
  • Under 13k already :D x

Doing well :) x I agree with pp about the takeaway dont be too hard on yourself x
  • thanks - that is a very positive way of looking at the situation!

Have sold one of the things I listed on Amazon yesterday - amazed at how quickly that happened. Means I can pay another £35 off something when it comes through - choices, choices :rotfl:

Massive congrats on facing the debt and starting the diary - mine has helped me to keep on the straight and narrow.

Have you tried a snowball calculator? (Google "make sense of cards snowball"). You put in all your debts and their interest rates and it tells you in which order to pay them off. You make minimum payments on all of your debts, and then one big payment to one of the debts (the one which is costing you the most money). Snowballing can save you an awful lot of interest. You might find you'll be better of paying off the overdrafts first, whilst making only minimum payments to your cards etc.

I've also rejoined under a new name, just for a fresh start :)
Best of luck with your debt busting, I've never used Music Magpie, maybe I should give it a try as I have loads of CDs/DVDs I never use now
