Oh Scarlet, £100 for 4 days? That's ridiculous. How are the charges broken down?
I have a first direct account which I transfer grocery money to and spend from and I don't have a card for the main account. I had originally planned to move everything over to first direct but then Halifax changed their charges to £5 per day for being overdrawn, none of these £30-a-go charges. So I stayed with Halifax for the main account, it was a good decision because I no longer have the horrible panic I used to get. We didn't get charged very often because I am a worrier about the whole thing, but I would tie myself in knots about it and was a nervous wreck every time the bank balance got low.
For that reason I would recommend Halifax.
Have you called First direct to try to appeal to their better nature?Debt £26k 18/10/140 -

Its £25 a day for going over their £500 overdraft . I dont really know on what basis to appeal other than pretty please let me off. Its so annoying though as apart from one day it is only over the limit by very small amounts and I dont see how they incurred anything like £25 of cost.
14th December 6.02 over the 500 limit
15th December 9.72 over the 500 limit
16th December 83.69 over the 500 limit
19th December 9.92 over the the 500 limitAs God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again0 -
When was the last time you were charged? Halifax used to have 1 strike per 12 months so you might get them to waive £25. It's worth ringing and asking. I used to say 'I misjudged my outgoings, I know it's my fault but is there anything you can do to help me?' If they could, they would.
Nothing to lose and all that:DDebt £26k 18/10/140 -

Thanks, I have picked up a few charges recently, never as much as that though. I've never tried to get them reduced before but as you say its worth a try. At least for the ones that were just over the amount. As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I am so bored, have done nothing of interest today. Tried to make two cakes and both were absolute rubbish. Can't even shop to ease the boredom. So fed up - stuck in a real rut

Thanks for the suggestion, there is a subtle difference between a new challenge and certain death though. The world isn't ready for seeing me in that much lycra :rotfl:As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. Love it :rotfl:
I know what you mean though - sometimes I feel like I need to have something to be doing.... i can't quite explain it but I have to have a kind of project going on, and if there is nothing going on I feel lost (and a bit despondent), yes it is official - I am a bit strange
Just keep swimming!0
