Hi

Found out yesterday that my son has been receiving text messages from 7000 numbers over the past few months and charged at £1.50 a time, this has built up a total charge of over £160.

Can i claim this back?

Very much doubtful. But get your son to reply with the work STOP. That should stop him getting any more.

Well, if his son had not subscribed to this service, I think theoretically it is possible to claim, but "few months" definitely make this doubtful.
  • Stop the 7000 numbers first and maybe it would be worth while seeing if you can get an alert when a certain figure is reached money wise and/or consider pay and go so your not hit with large bills again in the future?

The chances are he requested them, so reclaiming will be unlikely unless he didn't.

Reverse billing by text is a damnation, but it removes control from the customer, and that's just the way commerce likes it.

that is absolutely incredible. From the little information on the first post I would never have been able to offer such opinions and helpful advice.

for the benefit of others would any of you advisors care to explain what '7000 numbers' are.

You seem to be the best expert around in these numbers. Why do you ask instead of just explaining/clarifying this?

    Charged £6 for 4 texts

I am no expert and I don't know if this is typical for Virgin only. Probably because of this I don't understand what difference this makes.
